Man, John. On the one hand, white person land-owning in North America, ewwwwwww. ON THE OTHER HAND, there's a lot you could do with a freaking beach house, and I'm not talking just renting it out. What about hosting workshops for writers and artists and performers? You could get a couple other professionals and get groups of folks up for, like... a creative-type camp for grown-ups. Or turn it into a resource centre; I'm not sure quite how this works in the states, but in Canada, non-profit resource centres can get funding from the government for rent and supplies, so they can provide a free space for people who might not otherwise be able to afford it to go and learn and be around other creative people.
