My Beach House. Anyone want to rent it for a bit? It's totally boss, & Heffie needs money.
So, hey, I dunno how many of you folks know this, but I have a beach house on Rehoboth Beach. I mean, Mom runs the operation, but I own it. Seriously. I am a legit homeowner now.
This was how we invested my inheritance from Dad. To say I was hesitant about Mom's wacky idea is putting it lightly, but my brother and stepfather agreed it was a good idea, which says a lot if they all thought so.
Turned out, this house is one of the best things that ever happened to me. For one thing, it's a perfect writer's retreat, just inland enough to be close to everything but to be surrounded with privacy and nature. I'd likely be spending whole weeks up here at a time, just hermiting it up and writing and resting, if I didn't have Fringe Festivals to do. Not to mention renters.
That was Mom's other big idea for the house. A little income for the jobless traveling artist. And until I become experienced and established enough at Fringe Festivals, this house is now my primary source of income. Which is why Mom has been telling me how I've needed to post this very entry here on LJ for weeks now, so I could put the offer out there for all of you.
We want to keep the beach house rentals to the people we know, and the people they know, rather than just put it up on Craigslist and the like. So yeah, if you'd like a vacation spot a couple miles outside of downtown Rehoboth Beach, or a writer's retreat of your own, or just a place for a little peace and quiet, drop me a line.
It's $600 for a week, and we really prefer doing it as week-long rentals, but we can do weekends for around $400, open for negotiation. And hey, we still have Labor Day open!
And hey, since we're already talking about renting homes, my good pal
tragical_mirth is back in the DC area and looking for a place! Anyone have any good leads? She's willing to share the awesome power of her Netflix account with roomies!

No big, the rooms we would up with for October (greyhound weekend) are literally on the beach and slightly cheaper for the 2 of us anyway. OTOH, if it comes up again afterward I'll have this info as a backup plan in case our favorite place is booked.

Well, keep me posted if you need it! Mom handles the business end of things, as well as negotiations, if she's open to such things.
