"... you don't die, do you?" "Nope." "Hurm."
I've never really been a fan of the "I'm a Marvel... and I'm a DC" parody videos (of the Mac/PC ads, natch). Oh, I've found them amusing enough, but rarely anything more than that.
That said... this? I am dying from how awesome this is:
If you don't know Deadpool, let me just say that this is in no way an exaggeration of the actual character. Wade Wilson is like if Freakazoid was put into the Weapon X program. And I, for one, would pay good money to see a Wade/Walter sitcom.
I just wish there was more Comedian. I think he and Wade would have a good rapport. Not to mention how he'd interact with Adrian.
I think this is the voice I'll hear whenever I read Wade, until/unless they do the DEADPOOL spin-off film with Ryan Reynolds, and really let him cut loose. Because say what you want about Ryan, he has to potential to be a PERFECT Deadpool if they do it right.
I hear he's actually one of the few bright spots in WOLVERINE in the beginning, what little he's in it. I dunno if I'm gonna see it, because wow, the reactions have been like an utter trainwreck. At least with X-MEN 3, we saw the trainwreck coming!
One critic wished, after seeing the opening sequence with Logan/Victor over the wars, that the movie had actually been like an immortal mutant version of THE DUELISTS, with them meeting to battle for years and years until they've forgotten why. Shit, I'd buy that for a dollar!

I just bought DEADPOOL CLASSICS vol. 2 (and now need to get vol. 1!), and have been putting off writing an LJ entry espousing its virtues. Namely, the fact that it's the one and ONLY time I've ever seen Typhoid Mary be as absolutely awesome and crazy as I've always wanted to see her depicted!

Oh man, the Typhoid Mary bits! I'm only familiar with the character as written by Bendis (which was kind of 'meh'), so I was a pleasantly surprised to see how she was used in Deadpool. I've got to say, the internet has given me a slightly inaccurate impression of Deadpool (and Deadpool comics), I assumed he was all about the irreverent humor. That scene with Typhoid Mary in the bar was way more intense than it had any right to be. And it just keeps getting better! While I appreciate all the humorous moments I've seen with Wade on scans_daily I have to wonder why those sorts of intense scenes aren't posted more often. Good stuff.
On that note, I like the way Bullseye is used as well. It's fun to see that air of camaraderie between him and Deadpool, even though, you know, Bullseye...

Ugh, Bendis' Mary was perhaps the best-looking to date, but it was just... at least she didn't sound like Bendis, that's a plus and achievement in of itself. But A.) that wasn't in character for her AT ALL, and B.) she was just a flat, character-less saying-random-things-to-show-how-CRAZY-she-is person.
OTOH, I kinda loathe Typhoid when she's written by her original creator, Ann Nocenti. She feel like Nocenti's Mary Sue character in some ways (kinda like how Anakry and Ventriloquist were for Alan Grant, who inserted them into every comic he could!), and was just kind of an annoying, hateful character.
And yet, I've always WANTED to love her! The potential was there! And thus far, the only, ONLY time I've seen that potential tapped was in that DEADPOOL storyline. It has her be sexy, scary, sympathetic, almost redemptive, and then just when you think the story's over, that last fight scene sneaks up on you and the result is indeed way more intense than it has any right to be. She's awesome and terrifying, and man, I wish we'd see THAT Mary more.
I *really* don't want to have to be the one to write the Two-Face/Typhoid Mary fic, but damn it, I don't know if I trust anyone else to get it right. Sighhh.
Oooh, you have one up on me there. I haven't read the Bullseye issues yet...!
