I've never really been a fan of the "I'm a Marvel... and I'm a DC" parody videos (of the Mac/PC ads, natch). Oh, I've found them amusing enough, but rarely anything more than that.

That said... this? I am dying from how awesome this is:

If you don't know Deadpool, let me just say that this is in no way an exaggeration of the actual character. Wade Wilson is like if Freakazoid was put into the Weapon X program. And I, for one, would pay good money to see a Wade/Walter sitcom.

I just wish there was more Comedian. I think he and Wade would have a good rapport. Not to mention how he'd interact with Adrian.

I think this is the voice I'll hear whenever I read Wade, until/unless they do the DEADPOOL spin-off film with Ryan Reynolds, and really let him cut loose. Because say what you want about Ryan, he has to potential to be a PERFECT Deadpool if they do it right.

I hear he's actually one of the few bright spots in WOLVERINE in the beginning, what little he's in it. I dunno if I'm gonna see it, because wow, the reactions have been like an utter trainwreck. At least with X-MEN 3, we saw the trainwreck coming!

One critic wished, after seeing the opening sequence with Logan/Victor over the wars, that the movie had actually been like an immortal mutant version of THE DUELISTS, with them meeting to battle for years and years until they've forgotten why. Shit, I'd buy that for a dollar!

Oh my god. That was amazing.

I saw Wolverine on Friday night last week and it started off as a pretty epic movie and about 30 minutes into the movie, it seemed like they ran out of money, pulled an action movie script out of a dusty old warehouse, used SFX from the late nineties and went to work making one of the most sorry excuses for a modern summer movie ever.

I was pretty bummed out when Ryan Reynolds/Wade Wilson/Deadpool was on screen for a combined time of about 20 minutes. Not only that but Gambit was dragged in and thrown out like a bad extra they used for when they had no other characters available to move the plot.

Not even Hugh Jackman's rippling abdomen and extreme sexy hairiness could save this movie. And yes, the opening sequence of the movie was the only good part (IMO). How the heck did Liev Schreiber get cast in this train wreck? Man, it seems like any random guy could have played his part. Sure, not as sexily, but they misused his talent. :/

This youtube series has inspired me to read more Deadpool. He's probably what I'd be like if I ended up as a superhero.

P.S. FREAKAZOID. My childhood on Saturday mornings!

Oh wow, that's so disappointing. I love Jackman, too. I think he's so underrated (did you know he was my dream casting for Harvey? I only think that after seeing THE FOUNTAIN, which I love but many understandably loathe). But I'd heard Liev was actually watchable in it, though? That's too bad.

Love the fact that the screaming woman clip around the 2 min mark is from House on Haunted Hill. (If I'm not mistaken.) (And, crap, I almost recognize the one at 4:43, too.)

Love Freakazoid... even though I never watched it regularly. (Timing was all wrong.)

Both seasons are on DVD, and I wholeheartedly recommend a rental. I need to buy 'em myself. Everyone remembers and loves ANIMANIACS and PINKY AND THE BRIAN, and while I liked 'em all right, give me FREAKAZOID any day of the week. It's the weirdo, boiled-down-to-crack version of those shows.

I LOVE THE FOUNTAIN. Mostly because I have a she-crush on Rachel Weisz. God, I will watch anything with that woman in it. Mmm.

Hugh Jackman is wonderful. I enjoy him in every movie he's been in. Yes, even that stupid one with Meg Ryan. He's good as Wolverine, but it hurts me to see him in a movie where everything around him just blows chunks.

It's because of THE FOUNTAIN that in my mind, Harvey and Gilda are Hugh And Rachel.

And also to have him in a PG-13 film, but not the hard, awesome PG-13 of X2 where could properly tear the shit out of people. I don't even like Wolverine, but dude, hardcore.

I have to see that movie again now. It's been a while. D:

It's a shame it wasn't more popular.

Hopefully it'll find an audience over time. Again, I know many people who dislike it, some who outright HATE HATE HATE it. Me, I long to see it on the big screen again, as it's meant to be seen.

Yeah. Pretty much like that.

I didn't care much for the film, either. Good parts, yes, but they weren't enough to counter-balance the bad and that disparity left the film feeling disjointed at best.

Lots of wasted good stuff...

Woo, I just read 34 issues of Deadpool in one sitting and I think my brain is starting to rot out of my head. So, yeah...loved the vid.

Ooh! The Joe Kelly DEADPOOL or the Fabian Whatsisname one?

I just bought DEADPOOL CLASSICS vol. 2 (and now need to get vol. 1!), and have been putting off writing an LJ entry espousing its virtues. Namely, the fact that it's the one and ONLY time I've ever seen Typhoid Mary be as absolutely awesome and crazy as I've always wanted to see her depicted!

Joe Kelly. I was actually a little annoyed my local shop had only a single Deadpool trade. I ended up going the dirty internet pirate route (for now). I started reading early this morning and...well, it's surprisingly addictive, isn't it?

Oh man, the Typhoid Mary bits! I'm only familiar with the character as written by Bendis (which was kind of 'meh'), so I was a pleasantly surprised to see how she was used in Deadpool. I've got to say, the internet has given me a slightly inaccurate impression of Deadpool (and Deadpool comics), I assumed he was all about the irreverent humor. That scene with Typhoid Mary in the bar was way more intense than it had any right to be. And it just keeps getting better! While I appreciate all the humorous moments I've seen with Wade on scans_daily I have to wonder why those sorts of intense scenes aren't posted more often. Good stuff.

On that note, I like the way Bullseye is used as well. It's fun to see that air of camaraderie between him and Deadpool, even though, you know, Bullseye...

Both DEADPOOL CLASSICS trades are $30 (!!!!!!!!!!), and the first only has the first Joe Kelly issue! But after someone posted the earlier Mark Waid issues with Black Tom and Juggs, which were pretty darn good too, I'll have to pick it up when I feel like blowing the cash. In the meantime, I do not begrudge you the dirty internet pirate route. Sheesh.

Ugh, Bendis' Mary was perhaps the best-looking to date, but it was just... at least she didn't sound like Bendis, that's a plus and achievement in of itself. But A.) that wasn't in character for her AT ALL, and B.) she was just a flat, character-less saying-random-things-to-show-how-CRAZY-she-is person.

OTOH, I kinda loathe Typhoid when she's written by her original creator, Ann Nocenti. She feel like Nocenti's Mary Sue character in some ways (kinda like how Anakry and Ventriloquist were for Alan Grant, who inserted them into every comic he could!), and was just kind of an annoying, hateful character.

And yet, I've always WANTED to love her! The potential was there! And thus far, the only, ONLY time I've seen that potential tapped was in that DEADPOOL storyline. It has her be sexy, scary, sympathetic, almost redemptive, and then just when you think the story's over, that last fight scene sneaks up on you and the result is indeed way more intense than it has any right to be. She's awesome and terrifying, and man, I wish we'd see THAT Mary more.

I *really* don't want to have to be the one to write the Two-Face/Typhoid Mary fic, but damn it, I don't know if I trust anyone else to get it right. Sighhh.

Oooh, you have one up on me there. I haven't read the Bullseye issues yet...!

One of my co-workers (a 60 something woman) asked me if I was going to see the new Hugh Jackman movie "where's he's part man, part wolf.." I was about to geekly say "actually he's a mutant with, etc." but then realized oh wait, they HAVE made him into a canine humanity offshoot in the comics. So she was quite right. Its utterly stupid, but she is quite right.

... they have? Egad, when? How?

And yeah, $30, yeesh, what a rip. Great comics, but crimminy...

Yeah, I'm tired of people getting rich off of giving me crap.

What deadpool story lines would you suggest for someone who likes comics but know/cares little about the marvel universe.

I'm not too well versed in Deadpool myself, but I think the general consensus is his entire solo series from the 90's, written by Joe Kelly. I very much recommend the content of the two DEADPOOL CLASSICS trades (vol. 2 particularly, that's all Kelly), but the $30 is such a rip.

So unless you're willing to spend that, I'd recommend just breezing through these posts to give yourself a fun and wonderful Deadpool sampler platter!

If that Deadpool vs. Boba Fett fanart isn't epic win I really don't know what is.

The etiquette lesson someone posted contrasting the behavior of Captain America and Deadpool was hilarious as well.

So I heard! I remember that was the hope when they cast Reynolds in WOLVERINE in the first place; if it did well, then he might get a spin-off! This could well be the silver lining to the trainwreck that film apparently is.

If they do properly embrace the slapstick, fourth-wall-breaking nature of the character and truly do let Reynolds cut loose, it could be magnificent.

I like the fight between wolverine and gambit(especially how piss off when wolverine ignore him to fight his bother),was disappointed with how little original deadpool screen time got in the film.
