X3: Shit

So apparently in X-MEN 3 they're going to kill off Cyclops and Prof. X, turn Mystique human, reduce Vinnie's Jones' Juggernaut into a Bane-like supporting villain with no backstory/ties to Xavier/personlity or character, feature a lot of teenage angst with Rouge, Iceman, and Kitty ala Degrassi Junior High, badly retread the Legacy Virus storyline sorta kinda with a villain who's basically Sryker again, have no Sentinels, no Apocalypse, have Gambit, and have a couple Storm sex scenes. Script courtesy of the guy who wrote the Scooby-Doo movies and the Dawn of the Dead remake (and, in all fairness, "The Specials," but that was back when he was indie), and directed by the "Rush Hour" director who came very close to seriously fucking up the new Superman movie.

At this point, I'm not even angry. I just roll my eyes, yawn, accept that Hollywood does this shit, and just wait for the good ones. At least we'll still have X2, one of the greatest, if not the greatest, comic book movies ever made.

Man. Fuck you, Tom Rothman, and fuck you 20th Century Fox.

So I take it that these aren't stories from the various books? I mean, X-Men has been around for so long that I'd be suprised if any character hasn't been killed off at least once, to be resurrected by god-knows-what.

I can't believe they'd waste time doing anything but the Great Stories for the first few movies at the very least. I mean, they're RIGHT THERE, creativity free for the taking. Not all of them would make good movies, but at least some would.

Exactly! And it's even worse with the fact that the ending of the last one opened the door to the Dark Pheonix Saga, which in comics is one of the greatest and most famous storylines of all time. And in X3 they're relegating it to the sidelines, from the sounds it it, hardly featuring it at all.

It's a great story. The fans would wet themselves over it. It's just stupid that they're not using it. You're right, they're right there.

On one hand, they've reportedly reworked the script since the draft that was reviewed at aintitcool.com today, but to what extent I don't know. Better to prepare us for the worst now.
