Because I demanded it, here's another whole comic scanned right here for your reading pleasure. Here it is- the story that's been building for over 30 years. Written by Strazynski and drawn by Romita Jr. In the issues before this, Aunt May walked into Peter's room, only to find him passed out, beaten, bloody, and wearing his tattered Spider-Man costume. May left, stunned, and Peter didn't know she had been there. After spending the whole day to herself, May realizes that it's time for her and her nephew to have a talk.

Dial-up users beware, 22 full-page scans ahead! )

I love love love this one. I may have to do it again sometime!

1. Pick ten films you love/thoroughly enjoy.
2. Find screen stills for each film.
3. See how many of them your friends get correct.
(no cheating: no googling! no looking at urls!)

Go on, these are easy ones! )

And hey, don't just read the answers first before you post, I want to see who knows what!

thehefner: (Me as Bill)
Look. I know that I have a tendancy to... how shall I put this? Go a little overboard with praise of certain things. Like, how many times have you guys heard me say, without a trace of irony, that a certain something is the "(adjective)est (noun) ever!"? I know that after hearing that enough times from me, many of you guys just sorta discount it whenever I start on like that again.

Now, on one hand, sure, I'm a geek. And we geeks are a passionate lot are subject to hyperbole. Hell, we're even raised on it (the cover of every issue of Fantastic Four after more than 30 years still proclaims the book to be "The World's Greatest Comic Magazine!"). But for me, the thing is... I actually do mean it every time I say it. I truly do think that "What's Opera, Doc?", "One Froggy Evening," and "Feed the Kitty" are some of the greatest films ever made. That Superman is and always will be the greatest superhero ever. That Mega Man 2 has the best video game music ever (although 3 is right up there too). That Hal Jordan is the greatest Green Lantern ever. I don't just made these wild claims to blow everything out of proportion, because to me, that's how good they are.

So please understand that it is with all sincereity when I make this next assessment. Because I read this book today while working at the comic shop, and right now I am so moved by what I have just experienced that I feel I must come up here and share it with you all, my loyal readership. And that opinion is simply this:

THE LIFE AND TIMES OF $CROOGE MCDUCK by Don Rosa is one of the finest epics I've ever read.

That is all.
