thehefner: (Titus: Cavort Like the Greeks!)
So in Chicago, am still bleary from the drive but am with Bloo and am therefore mightily, mightily happy.

I haven't done a road trip in a long time. Who knew that an Oingo Boingo-fueled road trip with my mother could be so much fun? Not only is it primo driving music at 1 in the morning across PA, but it was fun having Mom, who's never listened to the band before, keep remarking every three songs or so "Wait, this is the same band?"

Note to self: write a play about a comic store clerk who starts hearing Oingo Boingo musical numbers. Think GOOD/PENNIES FROM HEAVEN mixed with CLERKS with a Danny Elfman soundtrack (plus a bit of the "Don't Worry, Bee Happy" sequence from FUTURAMA). Make this a companion piece to the play I'm writing based on Tammy, about the Games Workshop employee with a sordid past who talks to her LOTR figurines. Then Frodo comes to life and offers her a life of adventure and excitement.

Am I even somewhat making sense? Dear lord, I'm still wiped from the drive yesterday.

On the agenda:
- Acting class homework: find a statue and make a pantomime with a whooooole character history based only on the physicality of the statue. Urg, have I mentioned how much I hate these exercises? Because I do. They feel like so much work and are so bloody stressful. I'm gonna hit up the Art Institute of Chicago and go statue-hunting tomorrow, because I do not want this stress hanging over my head when I'm supposed to be enjoying my time with my girlfriend (any suggestions on any front for this homework would be much appreciated!).

- Write up a Hefner Monologue for Tuesday's open mic night at Speakeasy! This one'll be about life at the comic shop; to Desk Job or Not to Desk Job?

- Go to the Field Museum and see the real Ghost and the Darkness.

- Study for and prepare to do the best damn audition for Benedick that I can muster for MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING auditions.

- Make every last moment with Bloo count. Damn it.

Also, why did no one see fit to tell me that Stacy motherfucking Keach is playing King motherfucking Lear? Holy crap.

Finally, HAPPY BIRTHDAY [livejournal.com profile] reazik!
