An agent of some prominence is interested in reading my novel. Ohmygodohmygodohmygod.

I must find some Krank'd energy drink (a drink I had during exams, the effect of which I would describe in one word as "nyarg") and stay up all night super-editing the manuscript. Mom has been scouring over the book, meticulously tightening it up. Which is good, because it's a bad sign when I've send the book to several people now and not a single one of them have made it past the 30 pages, no matter how much they claimed to have liked it to far.

ohmygodohmygodohmygod. Must make novel better. Must make novel better. Must make novel better.

For no reason, I shall quote Deadpool: Ah! At last! The transformation is complete! For years they mocked me! Took the name Emmanuel Lewis in vain! But tonight, retribibution will be mine! For I am reborn... as WEBSTER, the adorable scamp of DOOM! Ma'ams and Georges beware! Webster walks the Earth, and he's got a hankerin' for some spankerin'!

Oh how exciting! Just do me a favor and don't overedit it. Editing is a good thing, but sometimes it can also take away a certain something. If they like your novel, they'll hire an editor to go over things with you then.
Cheers though, and best of luck!!!

Good advice. Thankee. And yeah, an editor may be hired but damn it I want to make sure it'll be interesting enough for them to want to read it all! GAH! *deep breaths*

Gah! It takes a lot of rewriting and rewriting and rewriting to get something close to what you want to say! Overediting is for college papers and things that don't matter. And while you shouldn't drive yourself absolutely insane since you already have an interested editor, and you'll have a lengthy editing process once accepted, it's not the editor's job to make your novel work. They can slice and cut and guide, but it's ultimately up to you, and you can't generally do that in four drafts, or any ridiculously short length of time.

Yes, I'm an elitist speaking to a fellow elitist on writing elitism.

It's changing paragraphs, changing sentences, changing WORDS.

Unless you want to be some Book of the Month drone. Which you don't want to be.

That SLUT has been picking classics for her book of the month! What the fuck? Faulkner is not a book of the freaking MONTH!

RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE!

It'll only get worse over the next two years. :o) But if anyone can understand and accept my snooty elitism on something I'm so passionate about that's so misunderstood, it's you.

Also, many happy dances of congratulations! Perhaps this should go above the rage, but eh, what can you do?

Post more when you know more!

Yay! We snob together!

Seriously, it's not a great thing to be elitist, but damn it... I got nuthin' to say to that. I always will be. I may not be happy, but I have self-satisfaction.

Although that is a first time rage in my experience, right there.

And while yeah, I don't wanna overdo it, I just wanna bloody make the first 50 pages interesting! Wahhh!
