If LJ has shown me anything, it's that female comic book geeks do exist. Even attractive/single/possibly-not-psychotic ones. Just none of them live within 100 miles of DC. Hurrm.

Ghostbusters and Jurassic Park were on today, and it felt like "John Hefner Reliving His Childhood Day." I've always been a geek, long before I started reading comics (which really didn't kick in till high school, when I got the job at the store and got to read everything, and I've had a long series of geek obsessions. When I was in pre-school, my obsession was Egon Spengler. When I was in elementary school, it was Doctor Octopus and then Raptor-hunter Robert Muldoon. I wrote fan fiction before I even knew what fanfic was where I knew Muldoon survived, just because he was that badass (he did in the book!). In middle school, it was Harvey Dent/Two-Face. In high school, it was Hal Jordan Green Lantern. In college, it was Bill the Butcher from Gangs of New York. Now, weirdly enough, I think it's my own creation this time, Johnny Go. (or if you wanna get really technical, the Kids in the Hall, but c'mon, they never in their wildest dreams thought I'd take it to these levels)

I never was able to make that Ghostbusters jumpsuit, but I did wear the hollow plastic proton pack around at all opportunities. I still have pictures of ten-year-old me in Muldoon hunter's getup and a toy rifle and of thirteen-year-old me in my homemade Two-Face costume and makeup. There are pictures of me in one of my high school yearbooks with a GL costume, carrying around my ass-expensive power battery everywhere I go. And of course we've all seen the Bill the Butcher costume by now. And I went to a friend's wedding dressed in my blue Johnny Go suit. In costume.

See, that's what I need. A girl who'll say, "Hey, wouldn't it be cool if we dressed up like Two-Face and Poison Ivy, hit the town, and scared the norms?"

Ooh, Boothe and I watched JPark on TV today (well, the end of it) and I had forgotten how much I loooove that movie. Yay velociprators! The kitchen scene at the end still makes me jump. Fantastic.

I'd be totally up for that, if it weren't for the fact that trying to pass me off as Poison Ivy would be an exercise in terror. And not in a good way.
