So tomorrow I shall be spending Christmas as I spend every Christmas: with my father over at the home of his ex-girlfriend Nita and her husband Larry. They're good people, his only friends, and they do far, far more for him than they really should, for some reason. Plus, they're both in denial about his alcoholism, there's that too.

After that, I'm thinking of going out and having myself a Jewish Christmas- Chinese food and then THE PRODUCERS. People are giving this film a lot of shit for being inferior to the original (it's not a remake, it's an adaptation of the broadway show, moron; it's a little less like comparing the films of LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS), for being "too stagey" (who gives a fuck?), and for having dated humor (well fucking DUH. It doesn't hinder your enjoyment of the original, does it?). I'll post my own opinion soon enough.

Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder are irreplaceable. Which is why I loved Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick for doing their own thing. WILLY WONKA was on last night, reminding me why I love Wilder so very, very much, and I really do hope he makes a cameo in there somewhere.

For now, I must endure the company of my grandmother's two friends, who do far, far more for her than they really should, for some reason.

Someday, you'll be the one who people think's friends do far far too much for him - and maybe you'll think that about your friends, but you know what? That type of friend always knows why they do what they do. And sometimes, it's because it's due.

A good point. Still, this is my father and grandmother we're talking about. There's a reason they've alienated most of their other friends. And even these good friends that they have only see one aspect of him. We, meantime, get stuck with the rest of them.
