First of all, Dallas Bryce Howard (think daddy Ron Howard with more hair and boobs) has been cast as Peter Parker's ultimate love, Gwen Stacy, in SPIDER-MAN 3. Like her dad, she's a flaming redhead, just like Mary Jane's supposed to be. Whereas the character of Gwen Stacy is a space-cadet blond partygirl, just like Kirsten Dunst, who dyed her hair red to play Mary Jane.
Got all that? *head hurts* They cast the exact wrong actresses for the wrong roles!
In other news, anybody been following Showtime's series, MASTERS OF HORROR? It sounded like a brilliant concept: get some of the "greatest" horror writers and directors (John Carpenter, Clive Barker, Joe Dante, Lucky McKee, the Reanimator guy, whoever else is willing) to direct one-hour-long short films. Sounds awesome, right?
Well, so far the instalments have been ok at the very best, but generally lame and disappointing. No matter how good these directors have been, these films all feel painfully made-for-TV, which may be attributed to the show's producer, Mick "I'm the only one Stephen King trusts to direct his movie adaptations, yet I don't have one-tenth the talent Kubrick had in his left testicle" Garris.
But there was still a bright light at the end of the tunnel: Takeshi Miike. Director of Audition and Ichi the Killer. A true modern master of horror (he actually seems to care about making a *good* film over just a *scary* one). Wow, we could finally have a decent episode! Well, no. Because Showtime are refusing to air it. Chud.com broke the story here, aptly titled:
PUSSIES OF HORROR
Fucking wimps. This is pay per fucking view TV. This should be the most uncensored, open television out there. They air shit like this in England on non-cable TV! This shit fucking pisses me off.
