That was the question I asked myself after it became clear that VIGIL just wasn't gonna happen. Now what? Well, I have a couple options ahead of me regarding my plan for dramatic actorly stuff for the upcoming year.

LEAGUE OF WASHINGTON THEATRES AUDITIONS: I can get fresh headshots, spiff up the old resume, and try my hand at this again. I didn't get any paid work as a result last time, but I did get several auditions, one at Woolly frickin' Mammoth, so that was sweet. I just need to think of a good audition monologue!

ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA: The Rudes' summer show. A play I know next to nothing about except for the historical stuff that everyone knows and that it's also my stepfather's favorite Shakespeare play of all time. I have no idea if there's any decent place for me in the show, though.

NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD: I am still totally gung-ho about directing this as a Second Stage Halloween show. Ideally, I'd really love to workshop it out with improv between the six actors. Not sure how I'd do that exactly, but my god, it'd be so much fun.

A TALE OF TWO CITIES: Gordon and Mom have been pushing me to do this play ever since they saw Floyd King perform it at the Source Theatre ten years ago. It's a one-man-show of a transvestite getting prepared for a show, when a crying baby is left on his doorstep, so as he's getting dressed up he does a one-man performance of Dickens' book to keep the baby quiet and entertained. Gordon and Mom think that I absolutely must do this show. Weirdly enough, it's not the only one-man-show about a transvestite that someone has thought I simply must perform.

I AM MY OWN WIFE: [livejournal.com profile] 2sick2pray pointed me towards this brilliant Pultizer-winning play, and I've fallen in love with it. It's the true story of playwright Doug Wright (author of QUILLS) interviewing a world-famous east German transvestite who managed to survive both the Nazis and the Soviets, but who may have become a spy and a rat to do it. It's a play of about 40 characters, performed by one actor. Amazing stuff.

Of course, the problem with me trying to I AM MY OWN WIFE is the same as my problem with doing A TALE OF TWO CITIES- I want to perform them and I have no director. So unless I find some similarly interested party, those options are out.

Those are my current acting options (NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD aside) that I see for now. I just want to be on stage at some point this year, if not more. Being abroad in London and coming back that summer, man, I hadn't realized how much I'd missed acting.

Ooh! Shit, sorry, *completely* forgot you replied to that! Life's been... interesting of late and I got distracted.

So. What is needed exactly? Bear in mind, if there's dancing I'd suggest you remember the curtain call of MERRY WIVES...

And I don't think you can stretch the letter "d."

you don't have to dance if you don't want to. you just have to be 'fairy' like in the gay sense of the word. you know, apply my makeup, fix my hair, pick out my wardrobe, etc.

seriously though, it's not hard, but it will be fun and you get to hang our with hot girls. how can you deny that??

oh, and you'd get to flirt with scott small.

You can't streth a "d", but you can roll it!

And in the "unloved and unwanted" front you forgot to mention that Duchess got the big thumbs down, further freeing your schedule.

Who loves you?
