I just purchased the soundtrack of A PRAIRIE HOME COMPANION, which is awesome, but neither my PC nor my Powerbook will let me import or even play the songs! It just spits the CD out again! God, I hadn't realized that I almost never listen to music on actual CD players anymore! Blast. My dream of creating a playlist of this and the A MIGHTY WIND soundtrack, dashed! Seriously, though, what a pain in the frickin' arse.

EDIT: I tried it on my Mom's PC and it works there. At least I have that! Still, technology can be a harsh mistress indeed.

In other news, ants have apparently decided to take refuge from the bad weather inside our kitchen. It doesn't help that my grandmother is a careless slob who leaves huge messes everywhere to attract the ants. Seriously, they are literally crawling over my hands as I write this. Or they were, till I squished 'em. Kill one and two more will take their place. Just like Hydra agents. Or Christopher Walken's Hamlet. (About five of you got the former joke, while about two got the latter.)

Also, still very, very pissed off about what they did to Harvey Dent/Two-Face in Batman. The final part of the story is out and he's evil Two-Face again, for no logical reason. Idiots. Although I hate to admit, it was kinda cool seeing badass Two-Face again. Still, what a character fuck-up, all in the name of status quo. It's rare times like this that I hate long-running comic book characters.

Hold down the shift key while you insert it.

Seriously.

I managed to get it to work on another computer, but if I should ever run into this problem again (and this is a major reason why I buy from itunes rather than own any actual new CDs anymore), that advice is precisely what I'll do. Good to know.

I am sorely disappointed in the Bat-books, but the Super-books are still looking good (granted, I've only read up to Part 6, where the oddly-reminiscent-of-the-movie crystal ship gets hashed). GL finally got hot.

Oh, I get the latter all right...but which of my cruel machinations do you prefer: the Walken Hamlet or Jimmy Stewart Gollum?

Nah, it goes to Walken Hamlet all the way. Because if you kill him, two more will take his place.

Ha! Unfortunately, even if I could have used it (and the essay specifications were more... um... specific than I had thought, so I had to write something original), it'd have been too long. For I am a long-winded bastard, as you know.

Ah, but it's cool. I have also recently seen A Prarie Home Companion and I quite enjoyed it. It wasn't what I expected, and I didn't much like Lindsay Lohan, but I still had a good time.

I really enjoyed the movie, but y'know the really funny thing, the stuff they focused on was actually my least favorite parts of the actual Prairie Home Companion radio show. I absolutely adore the show. It's the grown-up equivalent of Mister Rogers, something gentle, smart, interesting, and utterly zen and comforting. And funny too. Fucking hilarious in that odd midwestern way. I say again, mainly for the always wonderful Lake Woebegon parts near the end, the man is one of my true heroes.

It's on 90.9 FM around 6ish on Saturdays. Do check it out sometime if you can.
