FANTASTIC FOUR: RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER trailer.
Well. I may actually have to brave the FF movie so I can see this.
(please don't suck, please work your Marvel superhero sequel magic)
Now please. Please do justice to Galactus.
EDIT: Actually, my first actual reaction watching this trailer was, "Heh heh, is that Brian Posehn playing the preacher? That's pretty f---holy crap."

If this is the case, I am preemptively declaring that not only did I like better Fantastic Four than Batman Begins, I am going to like Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer better than The Dark Knight. Unless Christopher Nolan gets Patton Oswalt in there. Or Nicky Katz."
Yeah, see, better than Batman Begins? I haven't seen FF yet, but I'm ready to call bullshit on that. And I think he means Nicky Katt, whose presence really does spice up everything. But still, it amuses me.

Date: 2006-12-26 10:53 pm (UTC)I mean, it's my favorite superhero movie, but I'm not a DC person, so it's possible that I'm biased just because I didn't go in having much of a bias. I'm guessing The Dark Knight is the sequel. I knew they were making one, but haven't heard anything about it yet.

Date: 2006-12-26 11:03 pm (UTC)As for Katie Holmes, her role was better than the usual love interest I was expecting, but all the same, her wobbly-headed nasal performance dragged down the picture. Hell, if her character had been male and named Harvey Dent, it would have been bloody perfect!
I also think the dialogue is a little clunky, yet the excellence of the actors involved really sold it. Not a single actor in that film phoned in their performance.
You haven't heard anything about THE DARK KNIGHT yet? So do you not already know about casting Heath Ledger as the Joker? I think it's horrid and wrong, yet Nolan cast him for a reason, so I am really, really interested in seeing it. Nolan wowed us before, I'm praying he can do it again and better. No word on who's playing Harvey Dent, although based on the current rumors of Ethan Hawke and Ryan Phillipie, I'm worried about the kind of actor they're going for.
Honestly, after watching their interaction in Nolan's THE PRESTIGE, I personally really, really wanna see Hugh Jackman.

Date: 2006-12-26 11:51 pm (UTC)I've still gotta see Brokeback one of these days. Another one of the recurring Dent rumors even before Ledger was cast was Jake Gyllenhaal, so... yeah. Nothing else to add to that.

Date: 2006-12-27 06:28 pm (UTC)I was ready to hate it. I loved Batman and Batman Returns. So much that I watched them over and over. Read the books based on the movie. Totally fell in love with Batman because of them. But I always liked the Animated Series better. With the later Batman movies, I was disgusted. TAS was the epitome of Batman.
Batman Begins blew me away. I don't have issues with Katie Holmes, though I didn't especially like her. I love the Batmobile. The whole movie was just awesome.
And I didn't think Bale was going to make a good Batman. I'd only seen him in a couple of things, but he always looked too scrawny. But man, he made an awesome Batman. So I'm willing to give Ledger a chance. Maybe because I liked him in a Knight's Tale. And maybe they can do it right.

Date: 2006-12-27 10:40 pm (UTC)But Ledger has not done a single thing, not a SINGLE thing, even close to Joker-like in his career. So I'm REALLY curious as to what Nolan has in mind. But I's concerned.

Date: 2006-12-28 12:01 am (UTC)As for Heath, the fact that he's done girly-ish movies means he can at least act. And he's probably got pretty good range. Hell, it cant be any WORSE than Batmans 3 and 4. :P

"I'm Jim Carrey...but with orange hair and an old Bowie bodysuit we found in Iman's trash! We put all these question marks on it; aren't we clever?"
And that, dear friends, is all I have to say about the cinematic abortions we know as Batmans 3 and 4.
