And what's really funny-- or sad, depending on how you look at it-- is that AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE just isn't that good.
Oh, it used to be, don't get me wrong. I don't dare compare it to THE SIMPSONS, but in seasons past ATHF had some fucking great episodes. "Broodwich" and "Dumber Dolls" immediately come to mind. I didn't get it or care for it at first, but once I saw a few episodes and got into the mindset, it truly became a Sunday night college staple. I mean, c'mon folks, characters like Carl and Boxy Brown are awesome.
But the current season is an exercise in dadaist torture, and all reports of the movie (regardless of the vocal presence of Bruce Campbell) say it's not much better. The most bitterly amusing aspect of this whole thing is watching all the mainstream news outlets like Fox News try and utterly fail to comprehend ATHF. The only thing worse than unleashing an entire film of that to the world is the knowledge that it's a crappier, lamer, unfunny imitation of something that is a pale imitation of a once-excellent dada comedy.
Beyond that, I don't suppose I can add any real insight or opinions that hasn't already been covered much better on
shadowcaptain's LJ. At least, so I imagine, since I can't read the entry. While I would like to see this as a one-sided issue, looking down on an idiotic populace for just not getting it or something along those lines, I can't. It would be foolish and irresponsible to do so, methinks.
Still. I truly do fear for what'll happen to humanity when the zombie apocalypse comes.
