Hefnerian (adj.) - pertaining to a situation, event, or story that seems positive and joyous, but has elements of or becomes depressing and melancholic, causing the joyous aspects to be dulled, all interlaced with humor.

Example: Jimmy got a dog for Christmas, but its legs fell off after 10 minutes. Jimmy called him Lucky.

since you have me in editing mode, it should read "Jimmy got a dog for Christmas, but its legs fell off after 10 minutes." Its for possessive, it's for the contraction of "it is."

Blame Mikey! I'm at work and care barely spare a moment to edit my own stuff, much less others.

That said, I did notice that, but was in such a rush I didn't think twice. God, I'm so used to reading bad grammar in other people's LJs (coughcoughDAVEcough) and in the world at large, I start becoming desensitized to it. Dear lord, but that's horrible.

Johnny found himself without a close friend with whom he could discuss DC comics, until one day his friend Danny agreedto read all Johnny's DC comics. Johnny was overjoyed to share his passion with a friend, and eagerly anticipated dissecting the many characters. and so Danny read them, and they met up to talk them over.

Johnny asked Danny what he thought, to which Danny merely said "meh.. too many capes."
