Wherein I too become one of the many absent people I've seen pop back onto LJ to write an "It's been a while since I've posted anything here, hasn't it?" post. I'm genuinely ashamed that I'm becoming one of those people who posts more about their general lives up on Facebook than here. No offense to those that do, but damn, I miss the thriving days of this place when people actually posted stuff and had something to say! Kill me before I break down and get a Tumblr account.

Right now, I'm savoring this brief moment of downtime to check in here while things ramp up to crazyland over the next few weeks. In less than a month, I'll be performing The Road to Nowhere at the Orlando Fringe Festival. Hard enough that I'll be trying to fill a hundred-seat venue for seven performances, but as Henchgirl may not be able to tag along (eight months pregnant and all), I'll need to master the tech for the projector. Which I need to do anyway, since I'll be flying solo for when I perform at the Capital Fringe Festival this July. Which, of course, will be the day that the tech finally explodes!

But until Orlando, there's plenty of other shit to do, mainly involving getting ready to sell the house. This means--gasp shock horror--actually cleaning my room. I just we just found Hoffa's body, so that's progress! Maybe we'll sell it for a quarter at the Garage Sale this Saturday. Anyone want to come to a Garage Sale? It'll be here! At least, I think it's happening this Saturday.

And of course, it's only in the past few days that I FINALLY feel ready to work on the Harvey Dent novel again. I made some great progress, actually. The first chapter is greatly improved, and with Henchgirl's strict editorial help, I'm finally ready to finish this bad boy. Given the suicidal manner in which DC Comics is running itself these days, I'm thinking that I might just suck it up and post it all online. At least that way it'll reach an audience, which is more than can be said if it ever did get published.

Of course, that's going to have to wait. God knows till when, since childbirth is imminent, following by moving to Delaware. Even for the immediate future, I don't know how much time I'll have to see any friends. Lord knows that I can't spend a whole glorious day with [livejournal.com profile] themadhatter26, driving Baltimore microbrews and playing Portal 2. At the very least, I'll try to make it a point to keep y'all in the loop, for those interested in loop-related subject matter.

If nothing else, you damn well bet I'll be throwing a going-away/baby-having party before we go. I'll keep you posted.

I've been meaning to ask when we're going to see more of the DENT novel! I really enjoyed the introductory chapter you posted a while ago and I've been hoping that you'd post more of it. I particularly liked the portrayal of Harvey's father, "Double Down Dent". You can really see how Harvey's feelings towards him would become so anguished and torn.

On a related subject I think I found a fic by your Henchgirl the other day. I was browsing the Harvey stories on FF.net (I know, I'm not proud of myself...) and found an absolutely heartbreaking story about an elderly Harvey making a nightly visit to Gilda's grave and playing his own version of Russian Roulette with the coin. If it was indeed by her, please tell I absolutely loved it, especially the Harvey/Ivy section. It was so elegaic and moving.

Tell you what, if you post the rest of your book, cake and grief counselling will be available at the conclusion of the novel.

I was really worried that I'd never finish it, or rather, that I no longer felt the drive to finish it. After working on ten drafts over five years, followed by meeting Henchgirl and actually being happy, I feared that I no longer had the proper fuel which made me start writing it in the first place. But then I realized that I actually now have a different source of fuel, what with being in a relationship and starting a family of my own. Now I'm finally equipped to give the book an overhaul and put the focus directly where it needs to be the most: on Harvey and Gilda's relationship.

As said before, the completion will be slow-going. But with Henchgirl's help, I'm putting the finishing touches on the first part (of six or so altogether), which I'll be ready to post at some point hopefully in the near-future. And it'll be on FF.net (where I'll be trying to build a fanbase), so don't feel TOO ashamed. ;) Again, god knows how long it'll be before I can finish the rest. I've got a long road of revision awaiting me, most of it being in the form of complete rewrites and new scenes. Maybe I can cannibalize the deleted stuff into standalone stories of their own.

That's the one! She says "Yay!" by the way.

I try to add content to my blog from time to time, but you know... it's only the kind of content I tend to add. :)

I'd actually take you up on that offer, except for the fact that we already have a billet, and he's only got the one bed. If she has to stay behind, hopefully she can be with you, wherever either of you are by that point. But right now, everything's up in the air.

Oh! Mine is SamBluestone3383. I've only used it once, for Portal. What would you be able to send me?

Well, I just gave my 2nd copy of Portal2 away, but whooo knows. You have a new invite from BuddyPharaoh, and then I can probably take a look.

Thanks either way! I mean, if you can't provide it for me, that just means I have more free time to do actual work. The last thing I need right now is another distraction. On the other hand, PORTAAAAL.

I have a Mac, which limits my gaming abilities. Thus another reason why I haven't played Arkham Asylum yet. Sighhh.

Good news, it went through, and you are incredibly awesome, thank you!!! Bad news, my Mac apparently juuuuuuuuust turned obsolete. I'm one or two versions too old to play it. So I'll just have to sit on the game until I can find a better computer and log in from there. Hm... Mom's not really using her new laptop, it occurs to me... *rubs hands together*

Either way, thank you so much!

Bah.

Yeah, do that. I'm not even done with the game yet, and I can tell it ought to be a good influence on you. Enjoy... and get yerself a PC/Xbox, yo! Even if you have to borrow one!
