Whereas the head hanchos at the Studio Theater normally could give two shits about any of the interns, I made quite a good first impression when I revealed to them that not only had I seen and loved their production of "Vigil" a few years back, but it made such an impression on me that I was going to do it in the fall! Heck, I even seemed to genuinely impress the infamous Joy Zinoman herself. If she had any blood coursing through those veins I'm sure she would have blushed (joking, I'm joking... she never would have blushed).

Then a couple days ago Serge, one of the aformentioned head hanchos, informed me that "Vigil" was actually availible at the MLK Memorial Library! SQUEE! I mean, seriously, can you imagine, one of your all-time favorite theatrical experiences, availible on video? I could actually show people the Floyd King I keep talking about. Ah, Floyd.

Of course, this does raise an important question of whether or not it would be a good idea to watch this right now. Should I wait until after November 12th, after I perform it myself, so as to try to keep my performance as organic as possible? Or am I going to give into my squeeing geekiness? Time shall tell.

But yeah, once again I was faced with a rather awkward situation. Serge said, as someone had said once before: "So John, I sure hope you have a hell of an actor for Vigil." To which, I was forced to reply, "Uh... actually, the thing is... it's a performance thesis. So... I'm playing Kemp." "Oh," he said, and that was about the end of it. I mean, I really think I can do this role, even if it will be a bit of a challenge, to say the least.

On a completely different note, hey [livejournal.com profile] surrealname! I'm gonna make a mix CD for you, if you don't mind. Gimme yer address. It's gonna be pretty eclectic, from singer/songwriter to movie soundtrack instumental to odd shit I found here and there. And I still think I need to burn the entire "Hefner: The Fidelity Wars" CD for you... this is one of the very best heartbreak albums I've ever heard, and been very helpful recently. Oh, and by the way, you seen Shrek 2 yet? If not, you fucking need to. Trust me on this. And if you already have seen it, well... I won't need to say anything more, will I?
