Actually, that's the spelling I would have used, because it's closer to the temps perdus on which the pun is based. But when I was dragged into Treyhawk's room by disc_sophist I wasn't at the keyboard (since you had to be invited then, establishing an account was a somewhat bigger deal). Treyhawk was presumably thinking of Purdue University.
