The universe is this fantastic place, full of ideas and, you know, cool stuff. And everyone else seems to think it's somewhere to set up their frickin' butt-hat franchise.
Why did you have to be a jerk? All I ever wanted was someone who was glad to see me for the right reasons. And now look at you. You stupid jerk.
-Professor Reed Richards, AKA Mr. Fantastic (Age 21)

Something I just enjoyed in Ultimate Fantastic Four, written by Warren Ellis.

Back when I read comics, before this production, that was definitely my fave book. I like what Ellis did (briefly) with Ult. Xmen (that was ellis, wasn't it? with the DD, Wolverine, Spiderman arc?)

glad to hear it's still good. must get to comic store next month.

Nope, that was Mark Millar, author (along with Bendis) of most of the Ultimate books. His Ultimate stuff is so-so, but his masterpiece is SUPERMAN: RED SON, which is one of the greatest comics I've ever read and even non comic readers end up loving it too.

But that aside, no, Ellis' only foray into the Ultimate universe is FF. He's the author and creator of such awesome books as Planetary, the Authority, Transmetropolitan, among others.

Ultimate X-Men is currently being written (and has been for several months now) by Brian K. Vaughn, truly one of the best writers out there today. I don't read his Ult. X-Men, but his other books Y: The Last Man and Ex Machina are two of the highest quality monthly comics coming out now. The man's just solid.

sigh. i was afraid you were gonna say that. now i have to go through the library, trying to remember what I own that Ellis wrote, prior to Ult. FF. Probably nothing, but i coulda sworn there was something. I think, in my total comiccluelessness, I've been mistaking bendis and ellis for years.
