Dad just called me. He sounded like the vocal equivalent of coming through a thick opaque fog. He said I hadn't called him for awhile, and I said, quite truthfully, that I was going to wait for him to call me, to wait until he wanted to talk to me. Since I'm working, he asked me to call him tomorrow, and I said I would. That he wanted to talk.

Now, see, in this past week I haven't seen hide nor hair of the man, I've been working out, and I've been working on the comic. The combination of all these things is a Heffie who's been happier than he's been in a damn long time.

I really kinda hate that the decision of where to go from here is and has always been in my hands.

That's a good thing. The realization is tough, but now you know and you can move on when you're ready.
