I've got a hot date this Sunday with a girl I met through gk2gk.com (a geek personals site). She's coming over to my (Ma's) place. I'll be making dinner and preparing a generally romantic atmosphere. Hell, I'll even clean my room. And, of course, we'll watch movies. That should go without saying.

Several people have suggested/insisted upon "Dangerous Liasons," but my mother thinks the movie is insufferably stupid. So I dunno, maybe I should rent it and watch it first. Maybe I'll go with "Quills" instead, a movie that is most definitely twisted and hot. Besides, the only really hot and sexy movie I have, "Ravenous" aside, is "Body Heat," starring Kathleen Turner and William Hurt. On the other hand, maybe I shouldn't be trying so hard. After all, I'm the guy who's shown "Texas Chainsaw Massacre," "Titus," and "Ravenous" as date movies before. Of course, consdering how those girls turned out, perhaps I really should reconsider that plan...

I have to say, though, it's really fun and great to planning a romantic evening for someone who I'm not already totally in love with and involved with in some way. I sorta feel like, heavens, I'm gonna actually *date* somebody for once. And indeed, this should provide adequate distraction before my audition Monday...

Have you asked her what she likes in this matter and what she might actually be more comfortable with? What if you provided dinner and she provided movie?

If you want something a bit twisted, wierd, darkly pretty and just all around cool, though not uber romantic, I would recommend 'City of Lost Children'. It's a bizarre French film starring Ron Perlman.

She hasn't seen much in the way of films, and I did offer her to supply movie but she seemed just as fine letting me determine the whole evening.

I thought CITY OF LOST CHILDREN was ok, but it wasn't as good as DELECATESSEN and AMILE, from the same guys. Both of which are, I'd think, better romantic movies to boot...

ooo, Titus. Titus is gooood. Maybe not date movie material, depending on the girl I guess. But IT'S SO GOOD! I'd be impressed.

That's the correct spelling, aye. I would love to see their next film. I mean, I can forgive them Alien Resurrection, if only because they included a bunch of their fellow stock actors (Perelman, for one), but I still like to pretend it never happened.

Hmm, and I thought I was daring showing Dr. Strangelove. I'd go with a fairly safe movie personally. Even if it is cheezy and cliche. You want to be your self and everything but still sometimes you should go a little easy at the beginning. But I don't know this girl so maybe she'd prefer something like Quills. I personally think anything funny is good.

hmm...date movie...go with a non-threatening romantic comedy...one that is funny...if it stars J-Lo, it's not funny.

I would also like to point out that dormsquirrel suggests that you "Do Amelie! It's so great!" I am implying that she partook in sexual intercourse with said Amelie, that she enjoyed it, and is recommending that you partake in sexual intercourse with Amelie as well. I'm just saying

Well, let's just see how this date goes first. Besides, Amelie is french, and I kinda like my women to smell better than their own cheeses.

I'm sure it will go very well. Although I am now picturing you as Walken in those SNL "The Continental" skits. "Oopsy, it appears that I have spilled Champag-na all over your boobs"

I like the implications of dormsquirrel (who is, incidentally, Mel) and Amelie partaking in intercourse. Cuz Mel's a big ho. ;-)

Indeed, Quills is what I went with ultimately. A great choice, even if matters over the rest of the evening kinda made it... inconsequential? Eh, maybe I'll just do a whole entry on it.
