thehefner: ("Hello John...")
1.) USELESS TRIVIA: I just saw "Finding Nemo" on TV, and they played "Beyond the Sea" in the closing credits. That song was also played in the credits to another Albert Brooks movie (and my favorite, I might add), "My First Mister." MFM, for those who don't recall, is one of the greatest romantic dramadies ever, and "Lost in Translation," by comparison, may suck it long and hard. This movie makes me, as well as everyone else I show it to, cry like a fucking girl. [livejournal.com profile] surrealname, I know you can back me up on this. Hey, this Brooks connection could be akin to the Murray-Music Continum, ne?

2.) MUST BE A SIGN THAT I'M REGRESSING: I've started to listen to Stabbing Westward again. They were one of my favorite bands back around 7th grade. I remember seeing them at the Capital Ballroom after winning tix on DC101 while my Ma knitted in the car all night. Afterwards I met the band who seemed unaware that there was to be a meet-n-greet session with the winners. After that, I became a big fan, buying and memorizing all their albums.

Even at that age, I knew their stuff was kind've forulaic poor-man's-NIN angry white boy psuedo goth pop, sort of the Linkin Park of their day. Most people here will remember the scene in Clerks with Jay and Silent Bob dancing, that was to a Stabbing Westward remix. And every song was the same, the singer screaming about angry lost love, alternatively condemning the girl and begging for her to come back, but almost always in a moody and/or screaming fashion. Total guilty pleasure, but I loved it so.

3.) Finally got me a Farscape icon. Phase one complete. Phase two: convert everybody to the show. Phase three: profit.

4.) I saw "Day of the Dead" on SciFi channel a couple nights ago. Most horror fans regard this film as the weakest of the trilogy, and I don't understand why. I think I actually prefer this to "Dawn." The special effects are some of the greatest I've ever seen, and everything involving the Frankensteinian relationship between the zombie Bub and Dr. Logan. I become so totally engrossed and touched by Bub's character growth that it seems to have a strange sort of relevance. I can't explain it, but then, Romero does have a knack for social commentary.

5.) Misty finished making her costume of Jenny, Cameron Diaz's character from "Gangs of New York." Ooh, I so wish I could see that dress, and her in it. I'm starting to think instead of busting the costumes out on Halloween at WAC, we should totally go as Bill the Butcher and Jenny to the Ren Faire and just fuck with everyone. *evil grin* Hey, maybe the Rudes should tag along on some weekend and we can all his the Faire together, maybe for relief from Hamlet some weekend. I totally want you guys to meet her, especially the math geeks like [livejournal.com profile] tomperdue and [livejournal.com profile] fiveseconddelay. I so can't wait to see you guys talk. I mean, somebody's gonna have to talk to her about math, and it sure as hell ain't gonna be me.

6.) Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] fiveseconddelay? I bought a handlebar moustache and I want you to help me trim it. When you feel up to it, of course.
