1.) Man, it's been a rough month, but the weird thing is, it's been a subversive kinda rough. I mean, I thought I'd been all right, that I'd toughened up to daily hardships like my father, my mother's depression, money situations, romantic dilemmas past and present. But then I'd watch TV, and then when the slightest of emotion would occur, even in commercials, I'd feel a surge within me. Like I was just one surge away from crying. What the fuck? I mean, I got choked up with tonight's Justice League! I mean, it was a sad episode with Hawkgirl having to pull an "Old Yeller" on Solomon Grundy (and bravo for Cartoon Network having the balls for it), but even still. It's been remarked that it's amazing how well-adjusted and functional I am, considering all that I've had to put up with. That's great, I just shouldn't need to put up with it much longer. College, then job, here I come.
2.) On the homework front- Number of pages of drama thesis written: 17. Number of pages of novel written: 260. Number of lines memorized for CHERRY ORCHARD: Zip. Oh yeah, I'm on my way.
3.) I've been reconsidering my stances on a couple things. But I'm not going to admit it to anybody here what they are. We'll see.
4.) Maria Schell is one of the most heart-breakingly beautiful women I have ever seen in my entire life.
5.) There are few things more comforting than Garrison Keillor performing Lake Wobegon. The rest of his show is typically weak, but that 15-45 minutes he spends at the end makes it all worthwhile. I need to listen to him more often.
6.) I'm learning more about the American government from "America: The Book," than I ever knew before. This is really fucking sad. I blame society.
7.) Oh God, I think the Fantastic Four movie might suck. Please, I so hope it's good. But the descriptions of the trailer are not giving me hope. "Five people went into space and were bombarded by cosmic rays. One became evil. The other four became... fantastic." Nooooo.
8.) "Huff" is an awesome TV show. Hank Azaria, Oliver Platt, and Blythe Danner, on Showtime, Sundays and Wednesdays at 9. Why is no one talking about it? I hope it doesn't get canceled.
9.) Christopher Titus' one-man show "Norman Rockwell is Bleeding" is the kind of thing that makes me want to make the Hefner Monologues happen. The man is a brilliant storyteller and performer, molding all of his fucked-up family and personal history into something hilarious, wonderful, and moving. Anyone who remembers his show "Titus" can attest to that, I think. This man is one of my new heroes.
10.) If I were totally insane, I'd propose to direct "Closer" this semester at WAC. Because I love it that much. I mean, bugfuck seriously insane, people.
