Two more gone
Feb. 4th, 2005 12:01 pmFirst, the legendary actor/writer/director/activist Ossie Davis. After such an illustrious carrer as his, I think is bizarrely fitting that one of his final performances should be his restrained, poignant portrayal of JFK in BUBBA HO-TEP. And that's at the end of a long, important life of accomplishments.
Secondly, we've lost one of the great character actors of all time. John Vernon, best known as Dean Wormer from ANIMAL HOUSE, Rubert Thorne from BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES, and Mr. Big ("What, you think I'm too good to appear in an exploitation movie?") from I'M GONNA GIT YOU SUCKA. Fewer will mourn his passing, but like every great character actor they will always remember his face and voice, even if they never knew his name.
