1.) WAC TIME TRAVEL
So I drove Misty back up to WAC after she came to see KING JOHN. It was totally surreal making the whole trek back up there again. By the time I got her back there, it was around five in the morning (bear in mind, we went to see Serenity after the show). I dropped her off and was about to head back home, when I thought, "I'm gonna hit up Middle Hall and see if anyone's awake!" No one was, it seemed, which only makes me very disappointed for the state of WAC studentship since I graduated! If only I could have gotten inside, I would have totally written mysterious notes on several of the doors, just to fuck with 'em. I also strongly considered sleeping in my car, then going to the dining hall the next morning. Then when familar faces would see me, I would pretend not to know them and say, "Why, I'm a freshman and this is the year 2001! You people must be... LOST IN TIME!!!!" And then I would convince them that we'd have to stop the terrorists or something. It would have been brilliant. Ah well.
2.) THE MYSTERY OF THE OL' WANDERIES
Misty and I had our last words parked outside her dorm at WAC. She noticed an old man with a pointy nose, he looked like one of those pointy-nosed turtle things that aren't really turtles... walking his dog. "Who walks their dog at five in the morning?" she asked. "Oh, come now," I reasoned, "Don't you ever get the ... uh... the ol'... wanderies?" There was a pause. I added, "Well, that's what I call them." We laughed quite heartily. I suppose you had to be there.
3.) THE *HELL* DOES IT MEAN?!
I'm still- STILL- trying to figure out what Tammy and Misty, my first two girlfriends and great loves of my life, are doing on Liberace's Greatest Hits.
4.) STRANGE NEW FRIENDS
I kinda love it how every so often I get a new mysterious friend on my LJ friends' list from the scans_daily and boostle communities. So far, I have collected
covenhousecat,
elyies,
kosher_jenny, and now
faith_of_borg. I'm starting to feel like
disc_sophist, who collects so many LJ friends that she has never met nor may ever meet. I'm so touched that my comic geekiness has garnered interest from strange people on the internet.
5.) TAKE *THAT*, GAG REFLEX!
Speaking of
disc_sophist, looks like I am going to have to challenge her head to head one of these days. Because it seems, based on last night's cast party, that I am the King of Irish Car Bomb Consumption. Yes, I gave myself a title. You got a problem with that, we can go right now!
6.) MINI MIRRORMASK THOUGHTS
I paid my dues and saw Serenity and today I saw Mirrormask, which I rather loved. Very beautiful, and while the story may not excite everyone I found it quite wonderful. CHUD.com called it "a snore to watch, a boring mish mash of a dozen overly familiar stories and concepts." Unduly harsh, but I did notice a lot of borrowing/rip-offs from things like Legend and The Talisman, aside from the obvious Alice and Oz stuff. Oh, and I loved how Gneil, as you kids call him these days, reused a wacky riddle from a Riddler story he did back in the late 80's.
7.) DID THE BROWNCOATS LOSE AGAIN?
But dues paid or not, I fear that the Browncoats have once again lost. Serenity has bombed. At least, so says CHUD.com. Anyone else hear otherwise? If this is true, I think the trilogy ain't gonna happen. Or even a sequel. Devin, the author of the article and the badmouther of Mirrormask is a very abrasive with very strong and often unpleasant opinions, but he's also often very funny so I tend to forgive him. If you have insight, please offer it.
8.) MACK THE KNIFE MIXES!!!
I have made several "Mack the Knife" mixes. Stupid iTunes won't let me burn more than seven since they have purchased material on them, but I will copy a mix at my burner at the comic store tomorrow, so hopefully I can out-think Apple. Mwa-ha-ha. So if you want one, I'll bring a few to "Merry Wives" auditions tomorrow! I shall be by there after work, 'round 8-8:30. Ish.
