The Orlando Fringe Experience via Twitter
May. 26th, 2009 02:13 amDay 1 of Orlando Fringe: we've already given out 200 postcards, pimping the show. My poor entourage is exhausted. Yes, I have an entourage.
Day 2: feeling pumped for tomorrow's opening performance. Also, it's been suggested I refer to my entourage girls as my "filthy assistants."
Day 3: first performance was rough, but I need to remind myself that they always are. Hopefully I'll settle in the grove before too long.
Day 4: A magnificent day, and I have the evidence on film. Right now, for however long it lasts, I feel inadequate to nothing and no one.
Day 5: Reviewer in audience tonight. Unless the review is good, I don't want to read it until after the Festival. Maybe long after.
Aaaand it's good! Considering the performance was a bit rough (unlike the awesome Saturday), I'll happily take it! Although "VH1-ready?" I'm not sure I'm skanky enough. Maybe "Bravo" would be better. I could be the geek equivalent of Kathy Griffin!
Day 6: Sexy henchgirl # 2 is sick, the weather is gross, and I had no show to do today. This was a lazy day to watch movies and drink beer.
Day 7: At least I learned that I could still knock it out of the park even with a small, quiet audience. Now just give me over 20 people!
Day 8: Four people in audience today, all dead. Show was still good, though. Thank god for morale-boosting henchgirls!
Day 9: A sell-out house! Sold out and THEN some! Hopefully word of mouth will help fill my BONUS show this Monday at 11:10pm!
Day 10: Saw shows, went to the party, and scared the neighbors by screaming to "Sabotage" on ROCK BAND 2. Also, had an adventure. Nuff said.
Day 11: I won a flamingo! Long story. Even with smallish houses, this has been a fantastic Fringe. If I have a new show, I'll try for 2010!
Day 12: I literally had the final word at the 2009 Orlando Fringe Festival. That, and a packed house. Definitely a good year.
And as a bonus, via the Orlando Fringe's official Twitter feed: John Hefner's final words for the Fringe: "Let's all go out and get piss drunk! ... Let's get sleep!"
