Day 1 of Orlando Fringe: we've already given out 200 postcards, pimping the show. My poor entourage is exhausted. Yes, I have an entourage.

Day 2: feeling pumped for tomorrow's opening performance. Also, it's been suggested I refer to my entourage girls as my "filthy assistants."

Day 3: first performance was rough, but I need to remind myself that they always are. Hopefully I'll settle in the grove before too long.

Day 4: A magnificent day, and I have the evidence on film. Right now, for however long it lasts, I feel inadequate to nothing and no one.

Day 5: Reviewer in audience tonight. Unless the review is good, I don't want to read it until after the Festival. Maybe long after.

Aaaand it's good! Considering the performance was a bit rough (unlike the awesome Saturday), I'll happily take it! Although "VH1-ready?" I'm not sure I'm skanky enough. Maybe "Bravo" would be better. I could be the geek equivalent of Kathy Griffin!

Day 6: Sexy henchgirl # 2 is sick, the weather is gross, and I had no show to do today. This was a lazy day to watch movies and drink beer.

Day 7: At least I learned that I could still knock it out of the park even with a small, quiet audience. Now just give me over 20 people!

Day 8: Four people in audience today, all dead. Show was still good, though. Thank god for morale-boosting henchgirls!

Day 9: A sell-out house! Sold out and THEN some! Hopefully word of mouth will help fill my BONUS show this Monday at 11:10pm!

Day 10: Saw shows, went to the party, and scared the neighbors by screaming to "Sabotage" on ROCK BAND 2. Also, had an adventure. Nuff said.

Day 11: I won a flamingo! Long story. Even with smallish houses, this has been a fantastic Fringe. If I have a new show, I'll try for 2010!

Day 12: I literally had the final word at the 2009 Orlando Fringe Festival. That, and a packed house. Definitely a good year.

And as a bonus, via the Orlando Fringe's official Twitter feed: John Hefner's final words for the Fringe: "Let's all go out and get piss drunk! ... Let's get sleep!"

Welcome home! And I'm so glad to hear that you did well! :D

I've missed your witty commentary on life, comics, and the universe, though, so I'm very glad you're back.

Aw, but I'm not quite home yet! I'm still in Orlando, about to make the two-day drive back in about, oh, an hour or so!

It's a lovely thing to be missed, thankya very kindly! And rest assured, I'll be back to geeking about things soon enough! :)

Safe drive, then. ^_^ You count as being home to me, anyway. Much like the journey there counts as part of being there, the journey home counts as being home. It's perhaps an odd logic.

Your car is so shiny, for srs. I can't wait to see what lantern symbol you put on it.

Welcome back, you 'quick-witted, pop culture saturated' nerd you. It's great to hear that everything seemed to go well. Small, 'intimate' audiences almost seem like they'd be quite a bit more intimidating than packed shows.

Flamingo?

Yay, how lovely to be welcomed back!

The thing about small, intimate audiences is that I like to be able to make eye contact and connect with them. The worst show I ever had was when I did it on an actual stage with a 100-something seat-filled house and couldn't see ANYBODY. I like treating my shows as if we're all just hanging out, having a good time at Bennigans.

And yes, for every show that sold out one or more times, the producer was awarded with a plastic lawn flamingo with a sign indicating the show's title and how many it sold out. I had one! Yay, leaving Orlando with an actual physical symbol of achievement! Not to mention the filmed performance. Let's see about getting that loaded online at some point!
