At a party last week, I was chatting with a friend of a friend of a friend, telling him all the stuff I was up to, and he said, "You're going to have to settle down and actually choose one of those many projects you've been telling me about." Like, as if to infer that I, I, was spreading myself too thin! Well, I decided to sit down and actually write a list of all my projects, just to see if he was right!

Uh... maybe a little.

Books
The Sam Bluestone Saga
Starting with my first completed novel and going on as a long-spanning series, this was my original epic that I've been planning for ten years. It could go on for ten books or it could go on for twenty. I have one completed so far.
The Twilight Man
I’ve already written a complete play about this one, but I want to redo it as a novel. I wanted to do a story about a likable, affable serial killer, a guy who’s a horrid sick fuck but charming, disarming, humble, and self-aware of his own monstrosity enough not to make excuses for it. This is one of my favorite characters, one I plan to bring back a couple of times.
Little Falls
Six short stories of Sam’s home town, all intertwined. The full truth of one story can’t be understood or seen until all the others have been read.

Comics to Produce
Bub and Johnny Go
Underway currently.
Hamlet
I really do want to make a comic adaptation of Hamlet. There just isn’t one! I mean, ok, there’s like the Classics Illustrated, but 48 highly compressed pages hardly convey the play. If it turns out that I actually can draw worth a damn, maybe I’ll pick at this one over the years.

Plays Scripts
Trixie and Blue
Based on my first girlfriend, this half-completed script I did for Playwrighting II has been so promising, even T.M. was really liking it. I haven’t finished it yet because of my fears that the second act couldn’t live up to what I’ve already written, but if it does, I just might have an above-decent script here.
Little Girls
This idea just came to me last night. I’ll reserve talking about it until I mull the ideas over in my head a bit more, but the title might give you a clue what it’s about. If nothing else, hey, this might be my excuse to perform the song!
Night of the Living Dead
The more I think about it, the more it fucking works. Come Halloween, I really do think this is the show to do. It could be astounding.

Roles to Perform
Cyrano
Desperately.
Hamlet
I’m not sure how exactly, but over the years I really have more and more come to feel like I totally understand what Hamlet is feeling. There are days when I feel like if I were ever to play Hamlet, it wouldn’t be acting. I think this is a role I must play.

Movies to Make/Remake
Bub and Johnny Go
Hearts in Atlantis
Gangs of New York
Chess

And of course, there’s that one that qualifies under all of the above, The Hefner Monologues.

Ok, so my New Year’s resolution is to complete at least TWO of the above projects. If I can make it to three, I shall treat myself to a brownie bottom pie at Bennigans.

Damn, you sound like me. About twenty half-written/incomplete/back-burnered projects (novels, graphic novels, comics, plays, screenplays, animation pieces, other art, etc.) just lurking around waiting to be worked on.
