Ok, I give up. What the hell is the big deal with MySpace?

I've had this MySpace page for about six months now and I haven't figured out a damn thing to do with it, other than download a couple Emm Gryner songs and post my Hefner Monologues, both of 'em. What the hell is the point of MySpace? What can I do? How can I use it to further any one of my many schemes?

I mean, it seems to be the "go-to" place (whereas I've personally found LJ to be a far more fun, addictive, and effective way to meet people and make your mark). Can I, I dunno, post my writing up there, in lieu of an actual webpage? What the hell can I do with it? It just does nothing but sits there and accumulates the occasional friend who I didn't think even so much as remembered me anymore!

Any ideas/suggestions, fellow MySpacers?

Yeah I'm not a huge fan of it, but I have it as networking type thing, though I certainly like Facebook better. Old high school classmates have found me through it and I read other people's blogs. I dunno, that's not that exciting, really. But handy sometimes.

Oddly, I find facebook even more useless. I know very few non-WAC people on facebook, and it hasn't increased my contact with anyone in ways that IM and LJ haven't already done, and better for that matter. LJ just seems like the most superior version of the lot've 'em, to me.

Yeah it's not for everyone, I guess. It has increased my being in touch with people, and at the least has my lj and IM listed on it for people to find me. And I looove the photo album feature way too much.

Dunno, but Mo's band has a Myspace page. Look at it and maybe you can see what it's used for.

I'm proceeding to download the only song that it will actually let me download (yay for dialup! Gahhhh). See, this seems invaluable for musicians trying to develop a base.

Now, maybe I can utilize the blog area to post my short stories and other Hefner Monologues, even my novel, and get my writing out there that way. Unless there's a better way to do it (my own website, even, and I've learned the hard way that I have very skills in the way of web designer).

*shuffles feet* Well, I'd kinda like it if people said that about my writing...

I like Myspace, I'm incredibly addicted to it. Not only is it my "public face" as I keep my livejournal under lock and key-- it allows me to make plans and do public announcements on a fairly regular basis as my phone is always lost or broken.

Hmm. Well, while I figure out what to use it for, would you mind if I added you?

I'm just not certain what there is to do there to get oneself addicted.

I think it's like facebook for the...lame crowd, or something. I don't know. Also, people post suicide notes on it. I don't really get it, so I haven't even bothered.

it gives people another website to log on to and check compulsively. I agree though lj is the best of the bunch.
