I finally, finally saw Full Metal Jacket.

Great first 40 minutes. I should have just turned it off right there. That's not to necessarily say that the rest of the movie (this is to say, the majority of the film) is bad, but seriously, after R. Lee Ermey and Gomer Pyle, how can the rest of it live up? Meh. But god bless Adam Baldwin for trying.

We almost watched that in my Warfare and Aggression course last semester, but we ende dup watching WWII propaganda films and "Anyon'e Son Will Do" instead.

The movie, IMHO, is really two movies. The first half is brilliant (even though, according to a coworker who was at Paris Island during Vitnamm, it would have been near impossible for the final scene to happen.)

The second half of the movie, while very good, just cannot compare to the first half.

Still, it is one of my avorite movies.

i totally liked it. my only regret is watching it the night before i had to leave, like literally right before. because i think i really need to sit down and watch it again. but that will have to wait until i get back to the us of a. but yeah, i was expecting the worst, well not really the worst because i heard great reviews from you, but every one else i've talked to who has seen it has said it's terrible (but what do they know, right? they can't all have good taste like you and i.) but yeah, quite well done, i thought.
