First of all, Dallas Bryce Howard (think daddy Ron Howard with more hair and boobs) has been cast as Peter Parker's ultimate love, Gwen Stacy, in SPIDER-MAN 3. Like her dad, she's a flaming redhead, just like Mary Jane's supposed to be. Whereas the character of Gwen Stacy is a space-cadet blond partygirl, just like Kirsten Dunst, who dyed her hair red to play Mary Jane.
Got all that? *head hurts* They cast the exact wrong actresses for the wrong roles!
In other news, anybody been following Showtime's series, MASTERS OF HORROR? It sounded like a brilliant concept: get some of the "greatest" horror writers and directors (John Carpenter, Clive Barker, Joe Dante, Lucky McKee, the Reanimator guy, whoever else is willing) to direct one-hour-long short films. Sounds awesome, right?
Well, so far the instalments have been ok at the very best, but generally lame and disappointing. No matter how good these directors have been, these films all feel painfully made-for-TV, which may be attributed to the show's producer, Mick "I'm the only one Stephen King trusts to direct his movie adaptations, yet I don't have one-tenth the talent Kubrick had in his left testicle" Garris.
But there was still a bright light at the end of the tunnel: Takeshi Miike. Director of Audition and Ichi the Killer. A true modern master of horror (he actually seems to care about making a *good* film over just a *scary* one). Wow, we could finally have a decent episode! Well, no. Because Showtime are refusing to air it. Chud.com broke the story here, aptly titled:
PUSSIES OF HORROR
Fucking wimps. This is pay per fucking view TV. This should be the most uncensored, open television out there. They air shit like this in England on non-cable TV! This shit fucking pisses me off.

more questions than opinions.
Date: 2006-01-19 07:23 pm (UTC)Or do you mean spidey's love in marvel's Ultimate universe?
funny that they're switching the order of the girls around. peter/mary divorce?
having said all that, yes, the actresses were completely back-flipped.

Date: 2006-01-19 10:44 pm (UTC)Felicia to Pete is like Selina to Bruce; a lot of hot, hot, HOT sex, but it would burn out and collapse in pain and misery.

WEAK
At least it will be released on dvd though, so it's not like it will be gone for ever.

Hrmm.
I'm going to pass this up.
Re: more questions than opinions.
Date: 2006-01-20 05:26 pm (UTC)But seriously. You think post-crisis Bruce and Selina could both settle down and live happily ever after? I'm genuinely interested.

But seriously, Bruce doesn't do anything half-cocked (or casually) for that mater. To have him repeatedly hook up with Selina, that's got to mean something.
Re: more questions than opinions.
Date: 2006-01-21 08:52 pm (UTC)I just question Bruce's commitment, for one thing. How many times has he put his war before everything else. Would he really spend that much time to commit to her? Look how he's treated Silver and Sasha in the past (discount where you want for the crappiness of some writers, like I do with Loeb and Willingham). Also, bear in mind, Bats doesn't like or see anybody as his equal most times. He doesn't like being questioned. He wants people to follow his orders. Could he really bring himself down to strong-willed and headstrong Selina? They'd likely infuriate each other a hell of a lot. Also, the fact that he's so black and white while she's more gray would also caught mighty conflict.
But more than that, I question the mental and emotional stability of them both. Because to put it frankly, I think they're both kinda nuts in their ways.
I just don't know if I can see them settling down for the rest of their lives. I don't question the love, that's totally there, but I forsee a lot of pain there too.
... wow, I'm a dork.
