Hef Musings
Feb. 17th, 2006 12:26 pmA big thanks to everyone who read all four parts of my latest Hefner Monologue. Even my stepfather Gordon likes the Hefner Monologues. This man whose highest compliment is usually "Mwell, not bad." He personally thinks the Emm Gryner one is the strongest, interestingly enough.
I have a couple more in the works, after which I think I'll have a complete first book ready to go. The next one, I'm gonna see if I can't balance the story of life with my father with working at the comic shop. This will be the first Hef Monologue I'm gonna write where I don't know exactly what I'm gonna be doing. I *really* don't like to follow the sacred Creative Writing 101 rule of "just write, don't think about it where it's gonna go." I'm sorry, but I really like to have a solid plan to follow when it comes to writing. I like to know what's gonna happen as it's gonna happen, a skeleton around which I can build. Which makes the inevitible Misty story all the more disconcerting, as I'm *still* not sure if that story is over or not. Everytime I have an ending, something else pops up!
And I think the final Hefner Monologue will be my very own John Hefner fanfic. Or "Real People Fic," if you prefer. I'll leave it at that for now.
Hmm. Of course I really wanna do this as a one-man-show soon. I wonder if I could get someone to film me doing this, ala a Spaulding Gray movie. Me, a desk, a drink, a projector, and an audience. That'd be fun.
