Funny Mamet Lesbians.
Feb. 18th, 2006 11:43 pmI just saw David Mamet's BOSTON MARRIAGE at the Source Theatre, the last show before the Source is closed forever and turned into, god help us, a bar. Go see this play to support this theatre, which just might be saved. But less importantly, go see this play because it's fucking funny.
It's like a Vaudvillian Oscar Wilde play with the vicious anger of Pinter, Albee, or, well, Mamet. Or to put it in a way that will make sense only to Washington College people, it's a Liam Daley play. A farce about Victorian-era lesbians. At that point in the description, I might tune out, but no, this is awesome.
DC star actress Kate Eastwood Norris is my goddess. Holy crap, she is so fucking brilliant. Certainly the single finest professional actress I've seen in the DC mainstages (and hopefully I've done enough in that statement to protect me from the wrath of my professional friends out there).
Great play. Go see it. Seriously. A grand time. Support local theatre before it's gone. Mamet. Lesbians. Norris. Good times.
And in completely unrelated news, I'm gonna try out for a rock band.
