Just a quick check-in from an internet cafe.

I'm doing well, just poor and getting fatter from lack of exercise and british food. Gonna see TITUS tonight and Spacey in MOON FOR THE MISBEGOTTEN tomorrow. Ooh, and Colm Meany's in it too! O'Brien! WOO!

I'm definitely thinking about seeing A VOYAGE ROUND MY FATHER starring my favorite actor Derek Jacobi. Dear lord, that man's amazing. Ian McKellen once said that he and Jacobi went to Cambridge together, and they both had *huge* crushes on each other, but were too shy to say anything. That, right there, is one of the most adorable things I've ever heard.

But it's a shame I can't be here longer. Among the shows I'm missing: GUYS AND DOLLS with Patrick Swayze, ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA at Stratford-Upon-Avon starring Patrick Stewart (not the Globe production, as previously believed!), COMEDY OF ERRORS at the Globe (made to resemble ASTERIX!), Michael Frayn's DONKEY YEARS, and an adaptation of Hitchcock's THE 39 STEPS.

Woolly Mammoth audition went... well, I didn't get it because, as the director said, "We're really looking for someone younger, like seventeen." When I said that if I shaved my sideburns and silly goatee I looked way younger (true), he said, "Yes, but he's an inexperienced kid. You've got too much... presence." Hey, that's the second best rejection I've ever gotten! I'll send 'em a thank you card when I get back.

Still looking for postcards to send to folks. I'd like to find something a little more interesting than just Big frickin' Ben.

My homework for Monday's class at Studio is to list five characters that I want to play and why. This would be easy for me, except it's a class in realism and so Shakespeare, O'Neill, Chekhov, Molliere, Ibsen, and Strindberg are out. Leaving me with... erm... not bloody much to choose from. I frankly don't know what plays I've seen that have good, age-appropriate roles for me. It's driving me rather mad trying to come up with stuff. Too young for Larry in CLOSER, but too old for, say, Alan in EQUUS.

Onward now. I desire foods that will continue my road to fattiness.
