First, I read PRIDE OF BAGHDAD, based on the true story of the four escaped lions from the Baghdad Zoo on the day of the American attack, and I spent a minute or two just sobbing. Utterly sobbing my eyes out. Thank God no one was in the comic store yet.

Then I read BRATPACK, all about the sub(and uber)text of the superhero-sidekick dynamic, and was very, very disturbed.

Then I got back to work some on my Two-Face origin story fanfic and felt very good, really liking where this was going, and wondered if I would ever, ever have an opportunity to really show this to people if/when it was done.

Then I saw JACKASS NUMBER TWO with my mother in a theatre full of fratboys. I am sore from laughter. Utterly, utterly brilliant. It's not just mindless and stupid; at times, it's even like Dadaist performance art, I swear to god. Funniest fucking thing I've seen all year, although I wonder if the upcoming BORAT will beat it.

Finally, ended the day in the best way possible, talking with Bloo. She reminded me of a private joke that has amused us endlessly for months now, a joke which I place here for the sake of posterity:

IN SOVIET RUSSIA, JOB BLOWS YOU!!!

Well, SOMEONE had a good day.

Oh, god, Pride....is it sad? Because I can't even go ten feet near it if it's sad. I couldn't read WE3 for the same reason.

Dadaist performance art. SNOOOORT. Heh!

Hugely sad. Powerful, literary, moving, funny, scary, and heartbreaking. More than WE3, which at least had a happier... well, not to spoil anything either way. You really, really should read both. Sad or not.

And yes, I swear to god, Dadaist performance art! The movie is pure magic.
