Got up at 8 this morning to go to the Zoo for my homework assignment. This was my first chance all week to get down there. My homework for tomorrow's class is to go to the Zoo, study an animal for 40 minutes, and do a three-minute pantomime of said animal with a specific conflict and resolution. The problem with this is that many of the animals don't tend to do all that much in those 40 minutes, or at least, nothing much that exactly lends itself to an instant visual of dramatic tension.

I only had about two hours to find an animal before I had to drag my groggy and sweaty ass to the comic store, which is not much time at all since just walking aroung the zoo without stopping to look at animals takes about an hour and a half. I finally settled on playing a cheetah, mainly due to the fact that there was tons of cheetah reading material to work with, while the animal itself did little more than pace, roll on its back, and flick its ears. Of course, the problem that comes from this is trying to sprint... rather, to pantomime a cheetah sprint in a space that's roughly the size of two dorm rooms. I'm also going to do it standing up, not on all fours, which will be easier to play off but will present its own set of problems.

I only have till tomorrow night to get it ready. Which means I'm gonna need to practice in the comic store. If the customers don't see the guy at the comic store rocking out to Oingo Boingo, he's running around pretending to be a cheetah.

Although maybe a bit of "No Spill Blood" might be good to get me in the spirit.

you should take advantage of this to just scare the crap out the customers. One walks in, you say "roar, I'm a cheetah" oh! or you could go all Hobbes on their ass and just flat out tackle em. Yes he's a tiger but still, cheetah/tiger..close enough to rationalize tackling random customers

Either that, or they walk into a full-blown musical number of "Little Girls" with me singing/shouting in their faces.

Yeah doing the cheetah on your hind legs (meaning only legs) would work better. Can you move your ears? Maybe you can sort of give the whole wide cat eyes or the lazy, it's sunny and i'm tired cat yawn.

Also, is No Spill Blood supposed to be off of Dr Moreau?

I wish I could move my ears. Dunno how I'll be able to mime that part. Yeah, the yawn could be a nice touch.

Indeed it is, it's dialogue right from the book! "What is the law? NO SPILL BLOOD!" It's a great song! But then, I think the whole band is awesome, so that's me. Not sure how many folks would get that refference, good on ya!

I'm thinking that to pull it off on two legs, roll your shoulders while you walk even though it looks weird. They kind of undulate when they walk, like they bob their heads and then their limbs sort of follow the action of their shoulders and hips.
I don't know if that makes sense. Anyway, you saw them, you've got it.
