I'd better start getting on prepping and planning for Halloween.

Anyone know where I can get a decent and affordable bowler derby?

How about a good green wig? Failing that, who would know how to dye a wig to the right shade of green? I'd rather not dye my own hair and risk having it rub off on my tux or on the hat.

And also, who's really good with makeup? [livejournal.com profile] spacechild, I believe you mentioned some professional who could help? White makeup and red lipstick that will look great but also might minimize mess on my tux would be ideal.

Finally, anyone know where I might get a Jester Head cane? Or some other cane suitable for the clown prince of crime?

If you can't get a green wig, try dying a white wig gree, or a yellow wig blue to get green. If you go dying make sure to check what the wig is made of before selecting your dye, because certain synthetics aren't going to take most of they dyes you can get commercially.

If you can't get a jester cane, you might get a plain cane and put a jack-in-the-box head on it...

Hmm, yeah, that wig option could work, and now I will be sure to ask that when I go shopping.

Do they even still make Jacks-In-The-Boxes with jester heads? Because that too could work, but I wonder where I could find such a thing?

I did see that, but if I came, I had to come WAYYYYY early and be quick about it. I work at 11. Maybe I can swing that after all, but the earlier, the bloody better.

And yes, I believe you mentioned her before! Please do! I want to do a kick-ass Joker in the style of Alex Ross.

Again, think Joker by way of Dresden Dolls. So aye, any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Youre making me wana be Harley for Halloween. But all I can afford is to piece together a pirate costume from clothes I already have. :P

Aw! Aye, lack of finances always do get in the way of awesome costumery. I fear the day when I wanna try to make a costume of the Monarch or Dr. Doom.

Aw well, at least you know you can work the piratey thing. I remember those pictures you posted awhile back! It's always nice to at least have some all-purpose costume to fall back on. I always have Bill the Butcher!

"Anyone know where I can get a decent and affordable bowler derby?"

I think I might have one lying around. I'll bring it Thursday if I can find it. Dunno if it'd fit you though.

I will unfortunately not be there Thursday after all! BOO!

Will yeh be at the cast party Saturday??

I would appreciate it, although I should get one for myself eventually... and I do have a big, fat head, which makes hat-buying a great source of frustration.

Yep, I'll be there. Thanks for letting me know you won't be there Thursday. I'm glad I'm not going to bring the comics and hat and discover you're not there. I'll bring them on Saturday then.

Oh yes, and Eldridge has a bowler hat too. I'll bring both to see which fits you better. [hugs]

Aye, thankee for bringing the lot of 'em! See ya then!

Oh god, wouldn't it be sad if he, of all people, has a smaller head that I do? Stupid fat head.

Gosh, I hope so, but it's possible they don't. Maybe scour your local fleamarket? It'd be a shame to butcher one for a prop if it worked and they aren't made anymore.

i can ask her what she recommends. someone at work should have some sort of idea what works best.

Cool, please do!

The make-up seems like it might be so simple, yet I've seen enough bad Jokers in my day. I just need to know the best for smooth, clean white makeup and red (lipstick?), and what, if anything, can be done to reduce risk of smudging on clothes. Is there a post-makeup thing that can be applied to keep it on the face, like sealer for paint?
