According to the latest Lying in the Gutters:

So, you want to be a Green Lantern? A recent casting call in Los Angeles couldn't make it more obvious. For a pilot for a new TV series, "The Corps."

John Stewart -- (african american male, age 24-27). A SGT in the Marine Corps and just coming back from a trying tour in Iraq. Lead role.

Katma Tui -- (asian or caucasian female, 25-30). A very attractive and sexy, yet militant operative and lead trainer in The Corps. Must be athletic. Lead role.

Addie Stewart -- (african american female, 45-50's). John's mother who is dying of cancer. supporting role.

Hal Jordan -- (caucasian male, 27-35). Former Air force pilot who is injured in a battle with an unknown evil, while on his way to recruit John Stewart. Reoccurring role.

Tyler -- (any ethnicity male, 24-27). Serial killer, works as a hired gun for a local crime boss.

Erin Towers -- (any ethnicity male, 24-27). Former Marine, John's friend from boot camp.

John Stewart the lead, Hal Jordan as supporting?

Whether or not this is true (I'm leaning towards "not"... I'd think we'd have heard about this already and it is a craigslist ad, after all), it's definitely is food for thought. As much as I'd love to see a GREEN LANTERN movie, the stories are so epic that it'd need to be a trilogy at least, so a TV series would be rather appropriate for the cast alone. John Stewart as the lead makes sense, even if the cynical guy in me rolls his eyes at the idea, but at least Hal would be there in a major role nonetheless.

A GL series could ideally be the superhero equivalent of SG1, FARSCAPE, and B5, but it'd need a decentish budget, especially for FX. Honestly, given budget and FX, superheroes are so much better suited to TV than film (just look at how superior the sequels to SPIDER-MAN and X-MEN are... well, ok, not X3). But being TV, it could go badly so easily too. SMALLVILLE is only worth watching for Lex, Lionel, and Lois, and I haven't even brought myself to watch the un-aired pilot for MERCY REEF (seriously, as if Aquaman doesn't get shit on enough?).

Oo Oo, I wana try out! Too bad you practically HAVE to live in L.A. if you want to ever be in anything. Except Harry Potter, in which case, you must live in England.

They need to film something in FL!! :P
