After all, performing the Hefner Monologues just doesn't work as well without an audience. I tried to imagine recording myself telling the "Drunk in Bath" story, my webcam recording me gyrating around to awkward silence... it's just not the same without the reactions. Otherwise, I'll just be yet another crazy person with a webcam; "Numa Numa," without the benefit of a catchy tune.
(not that I haven't been tempted to record my one-man version of Oingo Boingo's "Little Girls"...)
The thing is, everybody would need to bring a friend, someone who's never heard the Hefner Monologues before. Tom could bring
Of course, the question is when this would happen. I'm still planning on having a birthday party on April Fool's Eve at my place (man, I really should get on making an evite list...), but then, I don't think the Rudes would be adverse to another party to attend.
And then I can post them to youtube, perhaps start podcasting once I figure out the deal there, and maybe start playing at more clubs beyond Speakeasy. Phase three is profit.
Thoughts? Ideas?
*It's neutral without being boring, and less cliched than a brick wall. It also has a slight 70's vibe, which, let's face it, goes well with me. And it has better acoustics for the sound-equipment-deprived; Michael Gondry may be up for filming in a McDonald's parking lot, but as Tom pointed out, he can also afford better sound equipment. I don't even have a frickin' microphone yet.
