DC parking sucks donkey balls, which is why I'm not seeing PILLOWMAN tonight either. Thankfully the tickets were free. Don't worry, I'll see it another time, and soon. The drive back proved once again that the only thing worse than DC parking are DC drivers. I'm covered in sweat, my heart is racing, I feel like I'm all knotted up inside... if I don't have a hundred beers right now, Hulk will smash everything.
I'm gonna take a nice shower, drink a couple Stella Artois, and watch TOMBSTONE. Mainly because Bloo and I came up with the rather brilliant theory that James Gordon is sorta like a cowboy in his mentality and attitudes, rather like Wyatt Earp. Which makes Doc Holliday Harvey Dent.
I'm looking forward to testing this theory with TOMBSTONE and, sometime later, WYATT EARP, with Kevin Costner and Dennis Quaid, which I've never seen. It's by Lawrence Kasdan, it's a Kevin Costner western, and it's the film Michael Madsen did instead of PULP FICTION, so I figure all those reasons combined make it worth checking out.
I'm bringing this icon back out of retirement for the singular purpose of showing you this:
Between that, the films he makes, the fact that he was able to make FIVE movies with Klaus Kinski, and how he saved Joaquin Phoenix's life... fuck Joss Whedon, Werner Herzog is my master now.
Times like this I wish I had a whole theatre to myself so I could watch AGUIRRE, WRATH OF GOD, FITZCARRALDO, and GRIZZLY MAN back to back. With nachos and beer. And possibly blackjack and hookers.

Date: 2007-03-24 03:02 am (UTC)Have you seen some of his films? I need to see more. The man is... is... uh... THE MAN.
Hey, since we're sorta pen pals now or whatever, I think that makes us friendly enough that I can genuinely enough ask: you doing ok? Seriously, if you wanna talk or whatever, drop me a line. You have my e-mail, and my cell phone (long distance is free now! er, hopefully that counts for out-of-country as well!) is area code three oh one, two seven five, six six two two.

Date: 2007-03-24 07:00 am (UTC)Yeah, we kind of are pen pals. I like that. You know, I'm not really okay right at the moment. I don't know. Thanks for offering, though. Really. You'll probably be hearing from me.
LET SUTHERLAND COMFORT YOU!

Date: 2007-03-26 02:11 pm (UTC)I know it's not the AFI, but Greenbelt is always looking for movie theme suggestions. I guess it's unlikely, but perhaps they'd give it a shot? It's a theatre, anyway. Wouldn't be all to yourself, though. You know I'd break in to watch a Herzog fest. Especially for

Click on "coming soon" and the note's at the bottom. Not sure why there are vast pics of frescoes on the page, but there you are.
aww, no hookers?
Date: 2007-03-26 04:39 pm (UTC)That... shall I keep in mind.
And I wouldn't want it all to myself anyway! What fun is there in that?!
