thehefnerGood news, disc_sophist. It appears the fanfiction bug has finally caught up with me, although not quite in the same form as usual.
My friend and I are major Batman fans... specifically, of Batman's Rogues Gallery. He's obsessed with the Joker, and I, naturally, am a Harvey Dent/Two-Face man. And we were talking about what would happen if there was just a story of the Joker and Harv just... talking. And an idea popped in my head. An "Arkham Asylum"... play.
And now, the ideas can't stop bouncing around in my head. A self-contained stage play about the inmates at Arkham. There's Jeremiah Arkham, head of the hospital, who is determined to clean up the tarnished family name by curing the patients by any means necessary. There's Harvey Dent, former district attorney, with a mind as horridly scarred as his face. There's Dr. Jonathan Crane, Arkham's new assistant, a man with a sinister plan for the inmates. There's Jervis Tetch, the psycho techie. There's Eddie Nigma, who answers every question with another question. There's Dr. Harleen Quinzel, a young doctor with a fascination for psychotics. And then there's the Joker. Is there ever the Joker.
To which my partner, who is reading this as I type it, replies "EEE!"
Ahh, we'll see, maybe with some sleep reason will once again take hold and this idea, like so many others before it, will settle into the recesses of my geek brain. Then again, who knows, I do have a final project for Playwrighting I coming up... is there an audience out there for drama fanfiction?
