thehefner: (Joker: Classy Motherfucker)

Finally, the power just returned to our household. We've had blackouts on and off for the past six hours or so. The lights had just flickered on as I was leaving to go to [livejournal.com profile] jcsbimp's house to watch a double-feature of ERASERHEAD (Calvin's choice:I find it admirably nightmarish but I still don't care for it too much) and THE STRAIGHT STORY (my choice: still my favorite Lynch movie and the most tenderly human movie I've ever seen), but I'd returned four or five hours later to a black house.

So, with the timeless words of wisdom of Skwisgaar Skwigelf: There's only two things to do in a power outage: get drunk... one thing."

So I've been sitting here, drinking a subpar Manhattan* and a couple glasses of Jameson, finishing THE GOLDEN COMPASS (see me sometime at work [livejournal.com profile] fragmentedsky and starting Vonnegut's BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS (more on that later, if I remember any of it), and what happens? Bam! The power comes back on.

Now, as much as I'd love to respond to my LJ comments of late, I've learned the hard way not to do so when I'm drunk. Even writing this entry is fraught with peril; what am I going to regret tomorrow morning?

So, lest I go any further and risk making an utter arse of myself, allow me to simply post this:

THE DARK KNIGHT TRAILER

... yes.

(Notice, not a single mention or screenshot of Harvey Dent. For reasons you may or may not understand, I am very pleased.)

*A good Manhattan is so bloody elusive! There's like a one in ten chance that each Manhattan I make will turn out right, and the odds are so rarely in my favor! Argh!

What a brilliant trailer sir...and I knew you would be happy for it to be more or less Dent-less
Shame you dont drunk post/reply....they could be comedy gold.

Also the first 5 minutes of the Batfilm is flying around the interweb. I know you want to avoid it so this is a heads up. I probably will post the link on my LJ later on

Comedy gold for you, maybe. Shame and more shame for me later!

Sorry, dude, I already saw it. I only wanted to avoid the description, but not that scene itself. I treated it like a stand-alone short film, as Nolan intended, or so I understand.

I'm actually glad I saw it; it was dangerously close to being browncoated, and my reaction was initially "That's it?" to, very soon thereafter, "... no, that... that was pretty damn fucking cool."

I don't quite see how anybody can say Ledger's Joker is the greatest Joker ever based on that, but I'm psyched.

I'm kind of weirded out that his makeup is so smeared. Maybe it isn't until the final few shots of the movie that we see him completely as the joker (as in that really creepy screenshot that came out a couple months back).

You mean how he's wearing makeup at all? That he'll get the full chemical bath treatment by the end? I don't think they're going that route. The only person getting doused will be Harvey, it seems.

I hope it stays smeared. I like that this Joker (from what little I've seen) is much more of a mess.

A fucking terrifying, yet hilarious mess.

It works. It really does.

Once again, still not the classic Joker. One day, I really would like to see a true comics' Joker put to screen. But it's still an absolutely legitimate take on the character, one that is increasingly looking amazing.

Two things: one, check out my latest post on Brad Dourif. Two, have you read THE KILLING JOKE?

I understand.

Well of course you do.

Although it turns out he is there for a split-second.

The scene where Bruce walks up to see Rachel, Harvey's at the table with her. As a date, perhaps?

It's pretty blurry in the internet trailer form. Here's the screenshot of Harvey looking astonished as his cock is in the process of being Wayne-blocked.

Yeah, that's the look on his face.

Cheers. When are you working this week?

Tomorrow (the boss'll be by around 3-6ish with the shipment, so I'll be pretty busy and unable to hang then) and Wednesday after 2. Also, all day Friday.

I'll bring the book tomorrow and keep it in the store, so whenever you come by, I can give it back! :)

Shiny. I should be able to actually come by earlier tomorrow, if that's okay? I don't have class so I can move Job A up, maybe get down there by like noon or one, with luck.
