So just returned from SWEENEY TODD, and--taking a suggestion from Toby--I decided to mix up a martini with some of my last Bombay Sapphire. But then, I discovered that we've gotten some frozen food in the mail, which means we now have blocks of dry ice that will be gone by morning.

So you know what this means...? Dry ice martini. Yessir, the only martini that chills itself! The gin (with a splash of dry vermouth, as little as possible) actually now has a decidedly fizzy taste, very odd in gin, and it's smoking up like a horror movie bog something nicely.

... oop. I think I left the dry ice in there a little too long. Ever seen gin could turn to slush? I've just invented a martini slurpee!

Full SWEENEY TODD review forthcoming. Maybe sooner. Maybe later.

Your Dean Martinesque drunken posts are the best. I remember the first time you did a dry ice cocktail - I think it was a Manhattan, right? Or a Tom Collins? You IMed me SO EXCITED.

Dean Martinesque? I'll take that as a heck of a compliment!

Although the Tom Collins was made with a mix... kinda gross. But it looked cool!

Dry ice is a tricky mistress, one that I have very few opportunities to master. Must order more crab cakes from Harry and David's catalog!

We must experiment with the dry ice together.

BTW, I have a present for you that I need to get to you.

I may have to order something frozen from the catalog just to get the dry ice.

It's a tricky mistress, especially with mixed drinks that have non-alcoholic substances. I've recently discovered the Bronx cocktail, which I really dig, but the dry ice turned the orange juice to mush. Shit, like I said, it even slushed up a dry martini!

Oh, rock, I wasn't expecting anything in the least! Umm, sure, let's totally hang sometime soon! Now I gotta think of something to get you. I know there are comics you want but can't afford yet. Hardcovers, anything come to mind?

Don't feel obligated to get me anything. I didn't spend all that much on you, and I certainly didn't feel I had to get you anything. I just saw something you need, and got it.

If you decide to, though.. There are definitely some books I am behind on, or just still need to buy. But to keep things a surprise, you can call my wife if you need to check if I already have something or not.

Also, you can always feel free to get me something I'd like but am not yet familiar with, if there is anything you've been wanting to get me into. That's part the basis of our friendship.

Again, though... Don't feel the need to get me anything if it's a bother. I didn't spend THAT much. ;)
