This first film is meant to be an introduction and origin as to how Hal joins the GLC. John is the GL in the JUSTICE LEAGUE movie, but according to a script review, there's virtually no mention of the Guardians nor the Corps (which is patently ridiculous, but then, they'll have a lot to juggle in the JL film as it is).
If JL and GL are both hits, I bet we'd see a sequel or two of GL that would expand the mythos, as well as bring in new GLs like Kyle, Guy, and even the already-established-in-another-film John.
