For those who didn't already get the news:

Our Two-Face and Typhoid Mary photos placed in the Project: Rooftop costume contest.

In keeping with Mr. Dent and Ms. Walker's characters, we made second runner up. For our prize, we'll be receiving a drawing of our redesigns from Ben Hatke.

[livejournal.com profile] dhairya are already talking about doing it again, working out our mutual costume's kinks, and perhaps even getting it professionally photographed (if we can find a guy who would not charge too terribly much). I'm totally up for it.

In the meantime, we're totally walking on sunshine, here.

EDIT: [livejournal.com profile] dryponder just informed me that we've already started getting attention for our costumes. Awesome, awesome, awesome.

You guys were burned.

I'll be blunt - I actually kind of shocked that you didn't win first prize, to be honest, because I thought the first prize costume was...hardly anything remarkable or innovative or even good. What was it, just a long blue t-shirt over tights and old boots?

I think Harvey/Mary and the Batgirl costume should have tied for first prize. That's not even a BIASED opinion, because you guys looked razor sharp, and the sheer imagination of doing Harvey and Mary as noir gangsta far outweighed in quality and visual appeal any other costume.

Well, I think the Supergirl and Batgirl costumes more closely fit the general Project: Rooftop asthetic. The Supergirl one has grown on me each time I see it because I see it as a subtle Fleischer-esque design (and I am a total sucker for Fleischer-esque Superman); virtually no yellow, focusing on red, blue, and black.

Heh, I kinda like that we lost points for my makeup being TOO gross.

But thank you very much, m'dear; we put an assload of time and effort into this, and I was so worried it wouldn't pan out even half as good as I'd hoped. This has been so rewarding, and I appreciate it.

Nope. Supergirl is lame. Charming on a six-year-old, maybe, but no sophistication or real imagination in that costume. Whereas that first Batgirl, Stephen Strange, and of course you and your sidekick blew everyone else away. Not only did you do a costume, you did a crossover with two characters that are inherently suited to be with one another. That trumps everyone else.

I'm almost worried that some famous writer is going to see that and steal the idea before I get the chance. But then I realize that no one at both DC and Marvel would have the balls to tell that story. Mainly due to the horrible, horrible, nasty, evil, painful, gross, vicious, just plain wrong sex. Clive Barker would wince. Cronenberg would nod in solemn approval.

AHAHAHAHAHAHA, now that I have clicked the above link, I see that I am not alone in the "you guys were the real winners" sentiment. Seriously.

We're so hawt, I don't know which of us I want to do first!

...

In all seriousness, I'm already planning on fixing and tweaking. Please keep an eye out for possible photographers or photo ops, and I shall do the same. Meantime, I'm gonna keep hitting the gym and I'll order a few more canisters of the scar makeup.
