I really, really should know better by now than to respond to some article or something by commenting in the message boards. Especially when the site in question is CHUD.com, of all places.

Fucking head reviewer called Harvey Dent "a bland character" and Two-Face "a generic villain" (The character, not Eckhart's portrayal, which he says elevated it above the source material). Fucker.

And now, of course, I've quickly found myself embroiled in a back and forth between myself and... well, the kinds of people who would regularly post on the CHUD.com message boards. I really should just let it go, not go back there, ignore them and let the matter die.

... GAHHHH!!! HOLD ME BACK, BOYS! *flails violently*

On the plus side, I just got an e-mail from Mike Daisey, whose show MONOPOLY! was a huge inspiration for me, and one of the very best solo shows I have ever seen. He's planning on coming to see THE HEFNER MONOLOGUES: HOW HEFNERIAN, which is fucking awesome, but also more than a little intimidating.

I'd kinda prefer he see the show after I've had, like, a year to develop and hone it rather than its rough premiere run. But then, if he has any insight, that could help give said development a shot in the arm.

This is the good kind of terrified.

arrrrgghhhhh don't do it... just shut the browser window... so not worth it. Stupid people will be stupid, we should both have learned this from scans_daily already... heh...

I immediately made the mistake of daring to say something bad about THE LONG HALLOWEEN, and was instantly responded with a handful of Loeb enthusiasts rebuking and dismissing me. I haven't gone back, I'm proud to say, but still... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Honestly, scans_daily is a thoroughly fun, civil place of actual wit and respect compared to most message boards I've frequented in my time.

I'm seeing Mike Daisey's show at Woolly next week! Woo!
Also, are you doing Fringe postcards this year? If so, where are you getting them printed and what's their rate? Zero Hour wants some for our show but we have limited resources..

I used to think that about Two-Face myself. He always just seemed too gimmicky. After watching the two part origin episode on TAS (especially the first part, dear god that was gold) and reading Eye of the Beholder I really can't say that anymore.

I am, and for printing, I use Indigo Ink in Columbia. Oddly, I can't seem to track down exact facts and figures for print jobs, even though I've used them so often, but here's the website where you can request an estimate:

http://www.indigoinkprint.com/

I'd hurry up, though! They sometimes take a couple of days, and even besides, they're out in, like, Elkridge. It's a bit of a hike. But then again, if you request them to send it to you via UPS, they're super-speedy (I'm doing this all rather close to the wire that I'm just gonna drive out there today, yuck).

Exactly! Honestly, the character has been mishandled and written badly almost as often as the Joker, but those two really are the shining examples of what the character was capable.

Good for you sticking to your guns
Of course teh interweb is not always the best place to do that!
However do not let that stop you.
As for the good kind of terrified, everything happens for a reason. To quote from the simpsons for a second
LISA - "The Chinese have the same word for Crisis and Opportunity"
HOMER - "Yes....Crisitunity"

Brilliant

also high fives and general dancing about by me towards your music choice. i thought they were unknown in the states
I did also think Dark Place didnt travel well either
You have proved me wrong on both
For that you do not need to bring me shortbread when we meet
However a Skipper the eyechild would be acceptable

Eh, I've managed to avoid going back. Angers up the blood too much. Not worth it, especially as I'm not about to convert anybody there, no matter what I do.

Hehe, Crisitunity indeed!

Yeah, they're not too famous here, but they certainly have their wee chunks of followers. And I can't speak for any other Yanks when it comes to DARKPLACE, but me personally, I couldn't believe they actually made that show before I had the chance. It was like tailor made for me.

No, Skipper is mine, you can't have him!

Y'know, if my voice weren't already all croaky from sickness, it would be from me repeatedly saying "But Two-Face is a tragic, complicated character!" at various people over the past couple weeks.

And yeah. Don't fight people on the internet. It just makes everybody cranky.

Word.

Really, I just need to stop reading reviews for THE DARK KNIGHT altogether, that's what I need to do. They're going to color my experience with either hype or criticism, especially since none of them are going there to see the same movie I am.

One critic pretty much said, "It's a great film, but the weakest link is how much they focus on the Harvey Dent subplot." To which I'm like, yeah, uh, for me, Harvey Dent will be the main character and EVERYTHING ELSE is subplot. None of these critics speak for me.

Furthermore, I have to fight to not listen to the leaked soundtrack on YouTube and elsewhere, especially not the third track, entitled "Harvey Two-Face," which--by all accounts--is utterly brilliant and perfectly captures the character. GAH. Eleven more days to go.

They have the SOUNDTRACK on YOUTUBE? Yaaaay!

Shiiiit, my speakers are in disconnected pieces on the study floor. How quickly can I persuage my father to put them back together...?

Illegally, so enjoy it while you still can! If they care enough to take it down.

I, on the other hand, will be avoiding it like the plague. Not because I want to (I mean, I do, but I don't), but because I have three ladyfriends ready to wallop me with love if I even consider listening to it. They're right; I don't want to be sitting in the theater and hearing that music and saying to myself, "Oh yeah, I remember this from my computer!"

Yummy! Thank you for the link.

Listening to "Harvey Two Face" through headphones right now. It is very lovely indeed.

And I've said "fuck it, spoil me" because there is no way I am going to be able to see it in the cinema in the first week if my current state of ill health continues. I'm not going to be that constantly cough-cough-coughing person who ruins it for everyone else.

All my strength. All my strength.

Oh noes! Is it so bad that you're going to still be sick for the next eleven days? Is that how bronchitis works? Lameness and horribleness abounds!

When written well he is such and interesting character.Especially since his past with Batman and Gordon.I can't wait to see Eckhart's take on the character.

Dude, avoid the message boards, stay away, at all costs. You can't possibly hope to convince people who haunt the CHUD message boards. Trust me.
