Hot damn, I've officially signed up for Robert McKee's "Story" seminar! Most of you probably know McKee from the great--and frequently misunderstood--Spike Jonze/Charlie Kaufman film ADAPTATION, where he was played by man-god Brian Cox. Yes, I think this will indeed serve as a fine excuse for not going back to the Studio Conservatory.
I'll need to find a place to stay in NYC for the weekend of October 24-26. I have a couple relatives up there who will hopefully be able to let me sleep on their floor, otherwise, I dunno, find a youth hostel or something.
After that, I might stick around NYC a bit, catch a play, or maybe I'll hit the road. After all, that might well be the perfect kick-off for my next big plan: freaky beatnik road trip!
I'm currently scouring routes in Road Trip USA, thinking about taking the interesting routes to Chicago, see Bloo and Misty, then hit Route 66. I'll post more as plans solidify (I'm not rushing into this unprepared, rest assured), but I think I know how I'll be spending the next four or five months.

6 for 2! 6 for 2!
Date: 2008-09-06 02:48 am (UTC)Nothing beats a little adventure on the road...
Date: 2008-09-06 03:05 am (UTC)(I was wandering unemployed from couch to couch without much of a plan and even less money in the bank. And, sadly, I did spend most of that time no couches--not out having actual adventures like I should have.)
Can't wait to hear the stories. :)
Also--that class should kick much ass!

Date: 2008-09-06 03:55 am (UTC)But yeah, one of the many ways this trip will be good for me is that it will teach me to be a bit more budget conscious, while hopefully still having adventures and an actual good nights sleep now and again.

Date: 2008-09-06 10:14 am (UTC)Also, did you know I was taking that week off? If you were to, say, come into town a little early, I might be able to meet you in the City.

Date: 2008-09-14 09:00 pm (UTC)You know, Yale, THE SKULLS (the movie lies; they don't have a moat...hell, they don't have their own parking!), etc.
It's ninety minutes north of The City.

Date: 2008-09-15 04:12 am (UTC)Not meeting would be sadness. If this doesn't work, mayhaps we could try again when I--hopefully--drive up north for the Canadian tour?

Date: 2008-09-15 05:09 pm (UTC)Because yes, we should make Kali jealous. If only to further pressure her to provide photographic evidence of her existence. I have no reason to believe she's not an AI construct living on the internet.

Date: 2008-09-15 05:25 pm (UTC)No photos, no actual address...this screams AI.

Date: 2008-09-15 07:25 pm (UTC)But still, that's hardly substantive enough evidence. Could have been a red herring.
