Been meaning to post this for almost a week now.

A-Ha's "Take On Me," redone with literal lyrics that match the video.

My only criticism is that the ending is kinda weak. I think they missed a prime opportunity for an ALTERED STATES shout-out, even if only nerds like me would get it.

Still, I've seen this five times now. I reckon by the fifteenth time it'll stop being awesome. Maybe.

Between this and introducing [livejournal.com profile] angrylemur to the magnificence that is Michael Mann's MANHUNTER, it's been a good week for 80's-tasticness.

I had seen the clip starting from the "take this hole".
Although there is one glaring error. There is no second pipe wrench for pretty boy.

Hey, you're right! They, like I, must have thought he was lifting one up of his own, when in fact it was the bad guys'. Ah well, I will pretend you said nothing and go on living in willful ignorance, lalalalala.

of course, that _is_ the only glaring error. I want this guy to rip more of these up.

I choose to believe that they did notice the error, but didn't change the lyrics because "piiipe wreeench fiiiight" is one of the funniest lines! (Although "baaand montaaage" makes me giggle every time too)

Also, I have to link to the Family Guy parody of the same video, because that also makes me giggle, and because Chris' little shuffle-kick dance is just too cute.

I never thought I'd find A-Ha eerie, but something about that 'Coooome to me, maaaggiiic frame'....

Eerie? But he's handsome either way!

Most welcome!

I'm about to next post a clip from OZ I'd never seen before, as I haven't made it to the fifth season yet. If you have, it's "The Last Duet," if you know what I mean. I'm dumbfoundedly in love here.

I can hardly wait. :-) That whole ep is fantastic. *pulls out my DVDs to watch*

I love using my Elliot icon for OZ posts. *g*

I LURV that you got the Altered States sequence... I actually own that damn movie.

And I must ashamedly admit, despite being a huge Michael Mann fan (WTF isn't THE KEEP available on DVD?????? All I have is my horribly worn VHS taped off HBO in the late 80s)... I only just saw MANHUNTER less than two weeks ago.

Now I see why they cast the Red Dragon in RoboCop 2... nice of Mann to hire him again for a wee bit in HEAT.

In the A-Ha video, I always cracked up that this woman wasn't in the least bit phased by the fact she was "Incredible Mr. Limpet"ed into the cartoon world and that she wa getting the hots for Ink-Boy.

Somehow I knew that if anyone would have caught the ALTERED STATES bit, it'd be good. God bless ya, pally.

Have you seen the CSI episode where Tom Noonan guest-stars as an evil magician? Wonderful little reunion there!

That... was necessary.

The cognitive dissonance of the original video is practically swoon-worthy:

Music: poppy fun
Lyrics: mind-numbingly stupid
Video: visually attractive
Video storyline: mind-numbingly stupid, but a DIFFERENT mind-numbingly stupid from the lyrics

What a delightfully perfect response. I almost hear it delivered in a deadpan [livejournal.com profile] fiveseconddelay manner.

God, it's all so true!

I'm one of [livejournal.com profile] angrylemur's associates, and I have decided that you are too cool a person not to add to my LJ friendslist. Kudos on the photo shoot.

Well thankya, and welcome pally! I take it then, based on your other comment, that you are part of her fabled Nerd Games and, perhaps, that you play Eddie there? If so, I envy you, as Eddie's one character I'd be terrified to take on in any format.

I'm glad you liked my analysis as well, it means a lot. After all, the character has varied so much over time, I could easily see others disagreeing with my view in favor of one they prefer.

You would be correct, sir! I am one of the Big Nerds at the Nerd Games, in fact. I play lots of people.

Thanks to a quirk of the continuity of the game I'm in, I had the task of moving Eddie from the "Hush" mastermind to Dini's reformed detective, while getting to skip the unfortunate 'bishie' phase in the middle.
