Very cool. Not $175 worth of cool, but very cool nonetheless. Wish there were better lighting on the scarring (I'm gross, I know), but so far, it actually looks better than the movie.

Seriously, $175?! I'm probably the most obsessed Two-Face fan out there and I wouldn't buy that for more than $50! Unless, of course, we were talking a custom-made action figure of me in my pinstripe costume. Which reminds me:

A Batman boxed set with repainted figures. The more subtle colors on everyone are very nice, and I'm so glad they went with Brian Bolland's awesome Two-Face sculpt, but UGH WHY THE JIM LEE JOKER?! HIDEOUS!

Still, I think I'll save my money. If [livejournal.com profile] angrylemur finds the time, I'm hoping she can repaint my Bolland Two-Face figure to match my costume and red scarring. Or else I'll try to track down Tammy and employ her Games-Workshop-tabletop-fu. Yes, I'm so much of a dork, I would even go so far as to establish contact with my ex.

Ultimately, though, when it comes to my action figure budget, perhaps I should just settle for this:

Angst, murder, and deep-seated issues have never been so adorable.

I can't stand the Jim Lee Joker. I really can't.

It's hard as hell to find a good Joker figure, actually.

The new subtle paint job on Lee's Joker almost helps.

Actually, I just got the Killing Joke Joker figure (w/o hat) as part of the Brian Bolland set, and I must say, it looks even better in person than the photo lets on. The paint job is rather perfect, darker and richer than the photo, and he comes with a small glass of red drink (I like to think cranberry and vodka).

He currently stands beside my Bolland Two-Face on my TV. Harvey aims a gun at me, while the Joker offers a toast. All the Bolland figures are well worth getting, coming from a guy who rarely buys figures anymore.

Actually, it's funny you should say that, because that was one of the (very) few I was going to list! :D I took him from work recently! He's definitely the best.

Also, I know he's divisive, but I like the Alex Ross Joker figure. Some people love it and others hate it, but he looks nice with the others.

I buy figures constantly. It's SO HARD NOT TO. I write about action figures for work, so they always pass my desk and I'm usually like "Hey, that looks nice.......How much can I get it for?" And it's usually juuust enough of a rebate to make me spend my paycheque on it.

Oh, I absolutely love the Alex Ross Joker figure! Good choice! I still regret not buying that one. How can anyone hate it? Maybe it doesn't pose well, but it poses like a pimptastic motherfucker. Hell, it was a major inspiration for one of the three Joker outfits my friend and I did for a photo shoot in July. Scroll down, and you'll see there's one shot where I really wanna put it up side by side with the Ross figure to see how they match up.

I figured you'd be more attuned to figures, o Madam Abe and Kroenen. But you write about action figures for work? What magical awesome job do you have? Lord love those jobs that barely enable us to feed our addictions. Sometimes I do miss working at the comic shop...

I'm determined to get that one. I don't have it yet but I WILL ONE DAY.

YES! Thank you! No, I've encountered so-called 'purists' who think that the Joker is the purple-suited lanky guy who dances around or whatever and to them I say "You're stupid!". I like the Alex Ross Joker a LOT. I have it on my desk, actually, beside the TDK DC Direct Joker.

And those photos are awesome. I am currently planning to make a Catwoman costume (I DON'T KNOW HOW TO DO THIS) somehow, probably based on The Long Halloween (I feel like I have mentioned this here to you personally so pardon me if I'm repeating myself). I've never made a costume or had one made so this should be a delightful adventure in realizing-things-are-way-harder-than-I-thought. I've gotta have it done for February's NYCC.

And yeah! I write copy about action figures. You know, "Saddle up for adventure with the new Lone Ranger figure!" or, like, "This summer's blockbuster The Dark Knight brought with it AWESOME TOYS!" It's not bad work.

OH. And if you get into the Just for Laughs festival, that will be awesome because I'm totally in Montreal.

Yeah, what the hell happened with the asymmetrical Two-Face figure?! I was actually disappointed a bit to have movie!Two-Face be symmetrical. I like my Harvey to be not so cleanly down the middle, sorta like this icon or coughcoughmycostumecough.

Thanks! If you click the "dressin' up" tag, you'll see it's one of four sets of Joker/Harley costumes. Be warned, the last one is NSF... well, work nor sanity. But pretty hilarious. You were warned, if you're so inclined.

Catwoman costume? Awesomeness! No, you haven't said anything about that!

By why THE LONG HALLOWEEN Catwoman, may I ask? I mean, I'll be honest, I have issues with that series in the first place, but even besides that, all those bracelets simply can't be practical for a cat-burglar! Also, are you freakishly grotesquely ripped like Sale's Selina? If you want my totally unsolicited opinion, I'm more fond of her old green scarf costume or the current Darwyn Cooke one. Even better, I'd love to see your original unique take, ala what I do for Project: Rooftop! But that's just me. No matter what, I want pictures! :)

That is awesome! For what publication/website?

Just For Laughs? Ha, I hadn't even considered that! Maybe sometime, yeah! No, I'm hoping to be up there for the Montreal Fringe Festival in June. If I get in, hopefully you'll be in the area! I'm very much gonna need the support, as I will be a starving artist living out of a minivan on tour!

Also: I really want that "leaked" asymmetrical TDK Two-Face figure that doesn't exist.

There's a few I really do quite like. I've got almost twenty, I think and not all of them suck too bad. XD

Aww, lil' Two Face looks adorable! Left side: I'm gonna try to be good and drink my milk. Right side: grrr I'm cranky and poopy and want some chocolate!

Hahaha, see, I couldn't think up any suitable joke, and then you come along. Well played, pally!

Well, you know the only way to stop Li'l Two-Face and bring unity to his warring sides: give him chocolate milk!

Aaaaand now I'm thinking...

LI'L TWO-FACE: "I like chocolate milk."
LI'L KILLER CROC: "And I like potatoes!"

I really like that they went with the Animated Series Two Face, that's always been probably my favorite look of the character.

$175?? Unless his tiny coin is made of gold and personally scarred with the purchaser's name, no.

On the other dolls, action figures, apparently being evil makes your hair poof out.

Or, well, have hair in the first place. If you're got hair after surviving an acid attack, heck, why wouldn't you poof it out?!

I personally think it's a sign that the perming chemicals in the DCU are just *that* strong. From the roots, into the BRAAAAAIN.

So, yeah.

and squeak did those little ones just come out?

Picked up my Bolland action figure today. Is pretty. But not as pretty as Bollan's Joker really is.

If... you do, could I perhaps buy the box-set redo of Two-Face off you?

The little ones have not yet come out. They were just announced, along with the others, on the DC solicits yesterday.

I must have them

Actually, I think he looked worse, to be honest. That toy is recolored from the original, based on the comic's coloring, and it's actually superior.

Which, the li'l baby ones? Haha!

$175 dollars is a ridiculous amount of money to pay for something that will sit on a shelf and just gather dust. Now, I could see paying that amount of money if it walked and talked and maybe baked cookies for you. But not otherwise.

You assume I wouldn't be constantly playing with it and posing it and pitting it in battle against my poseable artist's wooden figure.

A walking talking Harvey Dent action figure is a terrible idea! All he would do is angst and kill you! Or angst and make cookies!
